How do you think they could of have improved Silent Hill 4?

Henry's locked in his apartment and can't get out. Bless.

While it doesn't harm her, she will react. Later when I tried to bash Jasper over the head or shoot Andrew in the face, nothing happened. That's not fair. I wish you could smack around ALL of the NPCs, as opposed to just three of them. Or even better, kill them. Sure it would cause a game over, but there are some characters in the series I wouldn't mind slaying just for the hell of it.
It would be awesome if killing Jasper caused his ghost to appear early in the game. I say let the player do stupid things, and then punish them for it.

Yeah, but how would killing Jasper and Andrew affect the story? Would you be hindering Walter's plans or becoming his assistent? Deep thoughts from da' Nogg.

Does walter have to do the killings in order for them to be considered part of the 21? Deep questions from da' Neo. See what I did there? lol

^ OK that answered my question, and I'll stop thinking I'm awesome lol. Seriously though, what if you could choose whether or not to kill somebody and destroy Walters plans? I mean, most people wouldn't have a problem with killing Andrew or Richard, but... Eileen?

But you can pretty much already do that. Not directly, but you can very easily let Eileen die at the end of the game, which affects your ending.

They don't include killing Walter's victim's yourself because that woud've messed up their story-line.

Just imagine if they did that in Final Fantasy VII.
Technically, after Sephiroth kills Aereis, you should just be able to throw a phoenix down on that bitch, right?

Sorry Erin, but... no. haha.

Pheonix Down cures the KO condition... or Knocked Out. So, it's just making someone conscious and strong again. It doesn't actually bring the dead back to life. Once you're dead, you're dead... and become part of the lifestream.

Also, I could never let Eileen die. My first time playing the end, I didn't realize she could die, and she I saw she did, I turned it off immediately and redid the battle with enough time to save her. That final fight is fairly confusing the first time you're attempting it.

Kinda off topic, but I like how in Tactics original if you don't use a pheonix down in three turns your party member's dead for good.

Also, Tillerman, to play devil's advocate for your side a better example would be that you can whack Eileen a bunch of times to make her die at the final fight. Cuase it's difficult for me to imagine standing still during the final fight waiting for Eileen to die while Walter shoots at you.

Yeah, but why would they have an attack that causes instant KO called "death?" And the fact that Phoenix Downs can kill zombies? Idk

Bad translations? haha.

When I say I am going to kill my brother, I don't get out a gun or anything. We'll never understand Japan. Don't try.

Hmm... "how to make SH4 better..."
Instead of a backtrack/escort mission for half the game, create about 5 new Worlds, maybe re-use some from SH1, SH2, or SH3, (maybe the church from SH3, the Alchemilla Hospital from SH1, the LightHouse, and more of the Wish House, but keep the Apartment World re-visit) and just scrap the whole backtrack concept.
Make the player switch between controlling Henry and controlling Eileen, to complete different puzzles.
Get rid of third person for Henry, so as long as you're playing as him, you're in first-person. When you control Eileen, make it third-person.
A secret UFO ending would be nice. Very nice.
As EVERYONE has been saying, moar random scary sounds, no burping Patients, etc!
Make it so that you only see Walter a couple times: When he knocks on Eileen's door and on the steps; Once during a cutscene when Eileen is posessed and going through the Apartment on her way to 302; and finally at the big boss battle.
More of the soundtrack would've been GREAT! Best SH soundtrack of them all!
Lastly, HENRY NEEDS A PERSONALITY!!!

Say that to SH3 instead.

There is no need to improve Silent Hill 4, its perfectly fine the way it is.

I like the implied idea of Henry being able to save other characters besides Eileen. Now my mind is imagining a Dead Rising scenario where he's carting all these assholes to his apartment and has to keep it purified.

 That's a good way to put it. I would of found the attack pretty funny during the fight if it wasn't so damn annoying.

^That is why I always just pop a cap in his ass. No need to get all up in his grill. At least on Easy. That was one of the easier boss battles in all SH game history (minus Orphan 1 and 2. that was ridiculous).

^Well on easy maybe, but tryin to save eileen on medium is ridiculous. I popped 6 revolver bullets in his ass and it still took a shitload of fully charged axe attacks to kill him. I guess the thing that really makes him hard is trying to save eileen, and i also hadn't taken care of eileen so well so she was walking off at a decent rate.
