How do you think they could of have improved Silent Hill 4?

Henry's locked in his apartment and can't get out. Bless.

From SH2? Hm, I would only think of Abstract Daddys.

I liked Abstract Daddys. They aren't annoying that all because they are few.
If SH2 had ADs every corner they will be a "pain" for any one who played. Like that stupid ghost.
In my opinion is the ghost who "break a little" the sensation of playing a Silent Hill game.
They just don't give us the chance to check every door, wall, trash can, cigarette butt, tile on the floor, etc. :)
For me it is a important part of SH. With the ghosts you just ran away half the game.(the fact that they hurt you just BEING there is irritant too).

The story and music are great. I like the character designs too. However, Henry's personality made me not want to complete the game. Also, having to play the entire first half of the game over again as an escort? No thanks. Also, they should have integrated a flashlight and radio. These two things were greatly involved in what made the first three games scary.

Flashlight? Yes. Radio? Not so much, or not really at all.

There was the bookshelf radio Henry has in his room, but it doesn't function the same way.

Yes it does, it emits static when you have hauntings in your apartment... It keeps silent if all the hauntings are gone...

My opinion is that it is fairly subjective to name a thread "(...) to be considered good" as to someone it already is good, the best, meh or puke. It seems as the autohor has already decided it was a lousy game and left no room for those who's opinion differs (and there are many).

If somebody thought it was good, they could just come in here and say they wouldn't have to change a thing to make it good. There's room for other opinions.

After I played it again I really liked it. I might replay it again for the 3rd time. I thought they talked about silent hill a lot. Not really silent hill but the cult and god. Just because you are not in silent hill doesn't mean its not a SH game. 3,4,2,1 for me. The lowest doesnt mean bad it means not as fun but it is still fun and good. No Sh games are bad to me and when i mean SH i mean 1-4.

I would of liked if they made us use the flashlight, this game is scary but would of been scarier if we needed the aid of a flashlight, and made more changes to different worlds and in my opinion a little longer.

Re-map the controls and the camera angles.

Voice acting could have been better for Henry

After replaying again, i think mainly more character development by adding more cutscenes and dialogues(especially in the second half):
(i) more interaction between henry and the victims(including walter)
(ii)during gameplay, give responses to Eileen
ex: Eileen: you're going too fast!
Henry: no i'm not...lol

I feel like the game was rushed out to meet a deadline.
I think it should've spent a lot longer in development to make it as great as possible.

SH4 is a 9.5/10 concept Imo, and it has a lot of great moments within.
But the large amount of questionable decisions make it a frustrating & lackluster experience a lot of the time.

I really wish the monsters had different noises. They sound like placeholder sounds that would've been changed had the game been given more time.

- Allowing lesser ghosts to be "killed". The stronger boss ones could still haunt you unless you stabbed them with the Sword of Obedience.
- Unlimited inventory like the previous games.
- Some darker areas, needing use of a flashlight.
- More random sound and action scares, and less "walk over a certain part of the floor and you hear a howl/roar/chains/loud noise" which you can predict every time.

... That's all I can think of to make it better in my eyes.
Unlimited inventory would have been useless because of the chest and the traveling back to the apartment. Limited inventory was necessary.
For me, some changes would be: flashlight, travelling in the streets of silent hill, and more action scares.

It could have been better for all of them. In my opinion The Room features the weakest voice acting in the series.
I couldn't understand what Walter was saying most of the time. He and Henry sounded like they were whispering.

Although, Eileen's acting was pretty good from what I remember.

Maybe developing Henry's personality a little would have helped. He gives off a very strong "Keanu Reeves" vibe in this game, what with him being unable to emote beyond mild surprise.

Perhaps allowing each type of ammo and health item to only take up one space in the inventory would have helped. Instead of having four health drinks count as four spaces, have the four health drinks fill up just one space. It DEFINITELY would have made item collection less stressful.

Silent Hill 1-3 wouldn't be able to exist, heh. Honestly, though, as much as I look down on The Room compared to the first three games, my dislike of the game has lessened over time and I do consider it to be a good game... but mostly when i'm not thinking in terms of comparing it to the rest of the franchise.
