Re: Are we getting Born from a Wish?
It's not going to bomb. It's currently the 15th highest selling PS5 game on Amazon Canada.
It's ahead of the Until Dawn remake too BTW.

If I were to guess, I think that the Remake will include this content more naturally as part of the base game. There could potentially be a completely missable piece of side content that you as James with Maria in tow could stumble across that covers this part.
Naturally, this entire scenario will have to be rewritten and in a more cryptic fashion as you'd have to see it from James' perspective, yet it can't come together until later on. I'd scatter this content as an ongoing side content throughout the game. Early pieces at times when you're with Maria (Possibly even having James stuck, so you play as Maria briefly, though this is not necessary), then a few more as James by himself to get the last pieces following the prison, just before Toluca Lake.
These areas will only be accesible if you do them in order, needing a particular item or note to access the next area. Backtracking ought to be possible in certain instances. The sort of thing many might end up needing a guide for, but if you're playing carefully, it should be doable on the first run.
Konami would love to charge us more for a new lengthier DLC episode, but I also think it works as a way for Bloober to pad out the content of the base game with something already canonical.

Re: Are we getting Born from a Wish?
To be honest, I'd prefer to see completely new DLC scenarios. For example, playing as Eddie could be interesting since we know he has a gun. Bang bang bang.

Re: Are we getting Born from a Wish?
Same. There's an opportunity here to see SH2 from an entirely different perspective. Hope they're brave enough to try something like this!

I have a feeling, if we don't get initially get it, it'll be tied to the sales numbers ......
In regards to a new story DLC, Angelas would be very interesting to me.

Re: Are we getting Born from a Wish?
The idea of Bloober Team writing their own Angela-focused segment about her experiences fills me with dread and terror.

Re: Are we getting Born from a Wish?
This is why I'm guessing that a bunch of the new side content will be missions that deal specifically with James' and Mary's memories, Maria, Eddie, Angela, Laura, and some bits of specifically new SH town stories/lore.
Basically, there is no DLC, the new content and endings are already in the game. Maybe the best ending has everyone leaving the town together.

In case some people can't tell I'm being slightly hyperbolic. The Medium just pissed me off. As doom and gloom as SH can be, there's always a silver lining in these games. With Blooper... not so much.
SH has a lot of characters who go through a lot, without the severity of their trauma ever being glossed over, but still managing to overcome and being the best people they can be. Obviously Angela and Eddie aren't an example of this, some people drown themselves in their suffering, but at the end of the day, it's their choice. Heather says it best: "Suffering is a fact of life, either you learn how to deal with that or you go under.". People look down on the Order focused games, but I find that these plots and the cult's philosophy are the best examples of the overarching theme of the series. Kindness for the sake of kindness is a good thing, there's a celebration of the strength of the human will. The Order gave up. It's their choice, you know? The world is bad, so it's okay if they're bad too. Everything is hopeless and we're all helpless, so have a God burn it all down. In The Medium, this act of giving up is seen as not only the inevitable outcome, but a moral good.

Don't get me wrong, Bloober needs to stay in their lane here.
Angelas story is something I'd like to see if we had the right people writing it.
I kinda see it the same way as Cunningham's comic (Anne's Story) for Downpour. If things were different with Downpour, I would have liked to see that scenario in gameplay.

I hope so I have faith that it will sell decent on the name alone. I'd love to see the series become successful as a whole, filling a niche like RE does. As long as the games live up to that of course.

We will get Born from a Wish... As a pachinko machine!!
Re: Are we getting Born from a Wish?
Any ending that shows James successfully escaping Silent Hill will directly contradict the events of SILENT HILL 4: THE ROOM, as evidenced by Frank’s comments about his son.

He successfully leaves Silent Hill in the Leave ending in the original.
Also, who cares if it contradicts SH4? It just means it's a noncanon ending.

Re: Are we getting Born from a Wish?
No it doesn't. Just because James disappeared doesn't mean Leave is not canon. James probably isn't going back to his old life after the events of SH2. "Hey pops I'm back after _____ing my wife, can I get a job behind the desk at the apartments".

James would have to disappear....

Re: Are we getting Born from a Wish?
I doubt Bloober intends that any of their new content be considered canon with the rest of the original series. So it's okay to have a few new endings and joke endings.
It's more likely that SH1,3 and 4 will also be remade, and alongside 2 could establish their own Remake universe and continuity.

Re: Are we getting Born from a Wish?
I am unsure of this. Bloober seems to cater to traditionalists regarding the story. I'd be surprised if something was added to break canon.jdnation wrote: ↑19 Sep 2024I doubt Bloober intends that any of their new content be considered canon with the rest of the original series. Re: Are we getting Born from a Wish?
Alternate endings wouldn't qualify as breaking canon. Especially given the original endings are being maintained.
There is the potential risk of new character details or town lore being in conflict, but character wise, so little (next to nothing really) is known or spoken of in other games regarding anyone in SH2.
The only games where continuity does matter the most are SH 1 and 3. And, well... 0rigins...

Hit the nail on the head, although I don't believe Bloober would be as egregious as the below.....

Who says that ”Leave” actually confirms James as having escaped Silent Hill? It doesn’t. James is only shown walking through fog in the distance. For all we know, he could still be trapped in Silent Hill.
When I say ”ending that shows James successfully escaping Silent Hill” I mean any new ending that shows or directly implies that James is back in the real world.
