Silent Hill 2 remake has reached the late stage of production

It's true: Bloober Team is remaking Silent Hill 2. Talk about it in here to keep Remake talk separate from the original!

Silent Hill 2 remake has reached the late stage of production

Post by jdnation »

Silent Hill 2 remake has reached the late stage of production - development has been underway since 2019: https://wccftech.com/silent-hill-2-rema ... roduction/

That is surprising! For contrast, the rumors thread was made at the beginning of 2020
https://silenthillforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=26702

Konami is fully funding it. So the PS5 Exclusivity deal is probably based on a larger cut of sales/promotion costs handled by Sony.

Game will likely be out in 2023 then, coinciding with the film then if it is out by late 2023.

Townfall has apparently also been in development since 2019.

I wonder if f has too. Crazy if before I even started the mega speculation thread two years ago the games were already in active development the whole time.

I guess I have to decide between upgrading the GPU in my gaming PC or actually hunting down a PS5, at this point. I remarked to a friend the other day that history is repeating itself. I had to upgrade the GPU in my PC to play SH2 back in the day. Now, I'm considering the exact same scenario. Life is weird.

I would imagine Konami made all the deals and investments for the all the SH games in one go, so F probably started in 2019 as well. I'd love the game to be out relatively soon, but I've come to know the games industry quite well in the last few years. Games being in development for years and being labelled late stage production doesn't always mean much. I know a few people who were working on Bloodlines 2 from about 2015 to 2019, that game was labelled late stage production as well and it still isn't out. In fact it was such a technical mess the publisher took it from the original developer. For SH I'm content to wait and let them get it right.

I think so, anyway, I'm looking forward to it.
From the Scorpio compatibility chart, I recently learned that one of the best couples for me is Capricorn. I'm dating a Capricorn at the moment and I agree, she's amazing.

Apparently there are some rumored reports going around, allegedly from an Australian retailer that September 29th is the release date. Nothing substantial, but it's plausible as a release window, avoiding the bigger competition in the Fall, and getting in there closer to October.

But unless Konami plans something to show soon, that date is either wrong, or this thing will have a very short marketing strategy beforehand, or Konami is sending this out to die.

Late September would be the 22nd anniversary of the original SILENT HILL 2 release, so that is feasible. That honestly kinda was my thought when the Transmission was transmitted.

Anyone else strongly expecting a new trailer and release date at Gamescom this week?

While I would love to see something new for SH2 Remake, I'm not expecting anything until after Ascension starts.

Maybe a SILENT HILL 2: REMAKE commercial after the first episode of ASCENSION.

Nothing from Gamescom, but a September State of Play is expected, so maybe there. Sony needs to build some positive hype after the PS+ price hikes.

Not canceled but apparently still a work in progress according to Bloober: https://www.pcgamesn.com/silent-hill-2/ ... t-canceled

Nice to have some sort of confirmation but replying to honest concerns from fans with GIFs doesn't exactly inspire great confidence.

Konami as the publisher, would normally be tasked to market/advertise this game, but Bloober Team should have their own marketing manager and PR rep in-house that handles news/updates, etc. If Konami has explicitly told them to keep hush then that's sort of concerning. If there's no news at TGA then my hopes for this game won't be very high.

Why TGA in particular?
