Konami Potentially Porting 'Silent Hill' Series

Everything we know - and don't know, I guess - about all those Silent Hill rumours.

How quickly people forget the very dark years between Resident Evil 5 and 7.

Capcom saw how poorly RE6 was received and course corrected in a major way. Konami saw that their cheap, outsourced games weren't being received well and continued to double down on it (and I say this as somebody who adores Downpour and Shattered Memories).

I think Capcom can be afforded a misstep here or there because they've consistently learned from those with Resident Evil.

Yeah RE6 is trash, even worse than Homecoming or Downpour in my book. However both Revelations games came out in that era and I think they make up for RE6. They aren't on par with the others for sure, but I don't think of it as a dark era like Silent Hill has had. It was more growing pains of the modernization of Resident Evil, we needed that period to get what we have now. Silent Hill hasn't had a great Survival horror game (as in classic survival horror not walking sims adjacent or whatever SM is) in over 20 years now since SH4s release. Basically since I've joined this forum Silent Hill has had a rough patch until most recently. I do think Konami is doing mostly a good job at trying to bring it back, as in they seem to actually understand what we want instead of whatever they were doing during the Huliet( no disrespect) era. I say this too as a person who likes Origins and loves Shattered Memories. Origins wasn't great and SM is it's own thing.

To be honest, the RE fandom very much enjoyed Revelations 2 which came out in 2015 and exceeded sales expectations. It had some great survival horror moments, and showed Capcom what fans really wanted.

Wouldn't hurt to put the games on GOG, or even Steam. Hell, I would personally buy a physical collectors edition if was done right.

GOG and Steam releases of, at least, the games that are already ported to PC (SH2, SH3, The Room, Homecoming) would be nice. If the rereleases were to sell well, it could justify putting costs into porting the other games.
