We don't know what it is though. The current theory is that it was some kind of downloadable demo/short story that would have tied into the announcements in some way. Might have made sense when they were going to reveal stuff on the State of Play but didn't make sense when they chose to go with their own longer dedicated streamed event. It being rated definitely meant something was there but not necessarily that it'll see the light of day.

It would've had to have been mostly complete, yeah, but games can be rated up to six months before they release. Halloween would've been the time to do it tho!

Since I expect that at least one, if not three of them, are likely going to be released in 2023 I don't think we will have too long to wait until some more news.

Sony has a CES presentation coming up that will put a focus on PSVR2.

I'm making a total guess that there could even be a SH project for VR or that one or two of the titles announced that look first-person may be compatible with it.

Yeah, I don't get VR at all. I've tried it and it's only cool the first few times, then you slowly start to realize that it's pretty boring and nauseatic. Not to mention it feels more clumsily compared to "normal" mode. VR feels like a gimmick made for streamers.

I love VR but I wouldn't buy a $600 headset to play Silent Hill.

I mean I would if I had that kind of disposable income, I suppose.

VR fan here too. That said, I believe it’s safe to assume that any expression of SH in VR would be comfortably in the “opt-in alternative way to play” category, like RE 7 + 8, rather than bespoke VR experiences unavailable in other formats.

Hideo Kojima did a pretty good lengthy interview with IGN.

He basically confirmed that a decision was made to never work with licensed 3rd party IP. Only creating original works that he could have creative freedom over.

So any future involvement with MGS or even Silent Hill is never happening. So we can now officially bury any involvement Kojima will ever have with old IP belonging to third parties.

Kojima Production isn't publicly traded, so I don't have some goal of steadily growing the company. I just want to leave behind good work, and that's the stance I'm taking while making games, while also considering making other kinds of visual projects. We're going to maintain the stance of making our own IP and not working on IP licensed from others.

The Metal Gear team is likely working on Castlevania. MGS3R is outsourced to Virtuos. But as with Silent Hill they possibly have multiple projects beyond the known ones. (MGS3 remake, MGS remaster collection.)

It was clear from the leaks that The Short Message would be a PS5 exclusive, with no PC version, and I imagine that factors into its announcement. It will likely be announced at Sony's next event. It was supposed to release in October 2021, but stuff happened.
