The Huanted House

Heather finds out why it's true that you shouldn't talk to strangers. Or look in mirrors, quite honestly.

You know, I opened the e-mail saying there was a reply for this topic today, and all of a sudden the song Red Light Special by TLC started running through my head for no good reason. Perhaps someone at Konami fears TLC and their red light specials, lol.

Red Light Special isn't talking about an actual red light...

I know that, Krist, lol. Red Light Special is a good song. But all this talk of running from killer red lights made the song pop into my head. What happened to your no humping avatar? I LOVED that thing. Although I have to ask, is that you in that picture? It's really cool.
Anyway, I just get really creeped out by that red light. It's so random. There are falling spikes and falling dead bodies for scare effect.....and then a red light that will kill you if you touch it.

Yeah you mentioning that song put it in my head, too. Blast! I haven't listened to TLC in ages.

Humping avatar was replaced because I was in a state of blind rage this morning, and thought I'd bring back my screaming Jac Vanek icon. And nah, it's not me. She's a young up-and-coming photographer, and while I don't think of myself as a fan, per se, I do think she takes some interesting photographs.

What bothers me about the light is that it's.. you know.. screaming and howling and chasing you down. And how that part of the mansion is a maze. I fucking hate the Haunted Mansion.
I'm not dead yet, dammit.

I know! I haven't listened to TLC in ages either. It just popped in there today.
It is an awesome picture. I like it too.
The red light is the part I hate the most, but like I said earlier, I think if you go into that section with the mind set of "It is only a stupid light and I can just very easily navigate away from it" you might be ok. :)

I loved the Haunted House. I thought it was sooo funny.
When I was in that part of the game, I had a friend over, and we were laughing the whole time, and freaking out about the red glowy stuff.
Recently I read a Fanfic that had Vincent be the guy talking, using a different name.
I think thats a pretty cool idea, most likly total BS, but a funny thing to think about.

Vincent...sitting in a corner...thinking of ways to scare the shit out of Heather...

LOL, that would be awesome. I can almost see him doing that too, although I totally don't think he is the one who was the voice. Cool thought though.

It does kinda sound like him though, it's either the same voice actor or someone that has done a voice in another Silent Hill game... his voice sounds so farmilliar! :?

I thought the Haunted House was sweet as well. It's just so... different in its carnage and scope. The rest of the game is dirty and haunting, with everything being scary, while the haunted house is more like a crime scene- the only creepiness about it is the stuff that's put there to scare you. And then the Red Light comes and kills you. Made me almost want Pyramid Head chasing me again instead.
I run, 'til the silence splits me open,
I run, and it puts me underground,
But there's no regret, and no roads left to run...

For me that house is like a walk in the park, after all the monster killing it's relaxing, well, except for the red light...

That house (or at least the name), it's based on The Borley Rectory, isn't it?

Isn't it just a bog standard Vincent Price voice?

That shadow of the hanged dude was kind of a homage to the Haunted Mansion ride. Before you get in your cart thing, there's this room without doors that stretches and gets taller, the lights are out, there are no doors, the sound is defeaning, and at the end, the host is revealed to be the corpse who hung himself only a few feet above your head (revealed with a lightning flash). It's awfully frightening to a child, and the hanged man's appearance in the game brought back old mental scars.

And yeah. I like how normal it seems, and the corniness of the voice over. But later, the mental damage occurs when you get the feeling that something is not right. The normality of a fright house is suddenly more frightening because everything may NOT be just scene, you know? The voice sounds vaguely evil, mocking even. The classic murder scene seems like just a set, or is it?

However, the backwards swivel chair is the freakiest part. The quietness of the room, and how it kinda turns away as you keep walking, and you're all tense and stuff like something's gonna get you from that chair. Then "you-know-who" drops in on you. I fell of the bed and left the room for a moment.
Hurm...

Well... First time when I reached the last room of the haunted house, I just walked to the corner and I was turning to another direction... Then the red mist caught/killed me. And I hasn't any idea what just happened to me. Also, "the storyteller-guy" confused me a little bit.

I couldn't expect anything like that...

Luckily I was warned in advance about the danger that the red light represents. Its an annoying part tho, especially with all the turns.

I liked the hosts voice. While I was in there I just kept wondering wether the voice was a programmed machine (as it should be) or someone was actually watching me (Wich turned out to be so in the end.)

I found the announcer's voice to be annoying, myself.

The first time through the halls with the red lights, I stupidly went for one of the doors that was locked and got killed.

A lot of people said the haunted house was lame, but it was such a change from the mental fear I got from the rest of the game that it scared me a lot.
I really liked it, too. It was an odd change of pace. But a good one.
The only thing bother me is what the hell is that red shine that chases you!!!
It is really weird. Everything else is monsters and tangible things and then suddenly you have a murderous strobe light on your heels!

I always wondered who the hell Danny was?!

I love the whole haunted house scene! It's just so cool how you're walking through some fun haunted house but turns out to be some crazy murder shit and some dude is talking to you with a microphone or whatever..

^Bummer. I think I lost all of my Silent Hill stuff because one of my memory cards got corrupted somehow, and I'm not entirely sure I know how.
