Yeah, but that little girl's picture is everywhere. I don't see why Murphy would see her picture in so many places when her story is really minor and can even be bypassed entirely.

^Dunno. I just thought it was kinda neat, and worth mentioning. I was thinking she could be a teenage version of

Anne.

Not really an Easter Egg, but I thought this was an interesting little touch.

At the end of the Clock Tower level,
PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER_SHOW PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER:
you can see Anne running across one of the bridges above Murphy while you're sliding down. It's a blink or you'll miss it moment.

Makes me wonder though, did Anne somehow find her way into Murphy's Otherworld?
You can take my heart
And hold it together as we fall apart
Maybe together we can make a mark in the stars we embark
And keep us together as the lights go dark

the dj plays the original silent hill theme when you meet him

When you first enter the room you can hear the end of the song Love Psalm from Silent Hill 2 just before he puts on the Silent Hill Theme, then finally he puts on Please Love Me... Once More from Silent Hill 3.

Also in the clock tower otherworld there is a halo of the sun, which is missing all the runes and looks more like the one from Homecoming.
Noticed another in the dj cut-scene:

The phone he answers is a rotary dial, similar-looking to the play phone in Midwich Elementary with the same ringing from the first game.

I took the dead dogs as obvious refrences to the dog with the key in its stomach in Silent Hill 3, and to the "Dead dog gang" graffiti in Silent Hill 1. Further more, I initially thought the wheelchairs scattered around town were just excellent fan service, but Vatra did a great job at making them a genuine component to the plot.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned this. If you put money in the Jukebox in the diner it plays the intro theme to SH1.

Astonished no-one's mentioned the Hemingway Cigarettes that flooded the game.

I loved the SH4 easter egg. I actually got really excited when I walked into the apartment! Then when I left the loading screen said "STOP DOING THAT" Perfectly timed I thought.

I also loved hearing little bits of past games music and all of the photos of different Silent Hill characters/places.

Gonna start playing the game again and see what else I can dig up.

At the end of the devil's pit did anyone notice how Anne slides to the ground and sits with her gun hand propped on her knee and her other leg strait out on the ground, pointing her gun at Murphy and then deciding she can't pull the trigger?

It's very similar to a scene between Douglas and Heather in Silent Hill 3. In fact, I'm sure Anne's body language is a reference.

Can't believe I missed pretty much all of these >< Shows how observant I am. The only ones I noticed were the pictures of Samael and the Shepherd House in the Centennial building. For a bit I actually thought Downpour was going to tie-in to those games, obviously unaware that they were just a small sample of many Easter Eggs from the series :P

EDIT: Actually I did notice past Silent Hill songs being played on various radios, which made me giddy.
Bitch, don't kill my vibe.

Ha, it took me a few minutes to notice the SH4 easter egg.

It wasn't until I saw the front door and thought "Oh, hey, that looks similar to Henry's front door in The Room" when I stopped hunting for supplies and actually took a proper look at where I was. Then it dawned on me... >_>
Yeah, I was pretty slow off the mark with that one... ^_^

@Brian J Flesh
1.Overlook Penitentiary-"overlook" was the name of the hotel in THE SHINNING.
Indeed! A Stephen King or Stanley Kubrick fan then? I'm a big fan of The King of Horror!

Before I go off topic - when I saw "Overlook Penitentiary", I thought it was in the same area as the hotel from Silent Hill 2. I had this stupid idea in my head that the hotel was called "Overview" when it of course was "Lake View". Messed up a few phrases in my head there.

Where did I get Overview from!? Did I just confuse it with Overlook (from The Shining) or is this from another Silent Hill game/or any other horror for that matter?

I'm sure Overview is from something.

If it hasn't been mentioned, the streets were named after well-known genre writers.

Straub St: Peter Straub

Brite St: Poppy Z. Brite

Campbell St: Ramsey Campbell

King St: Duh

That's just a few of them.

There's a children's book called "Czech Dictionary" on a desk in the Shadow Play house.

Murphy's flashlight

Post by atomheart »

When Murphy is injured his flashlight reflection is splattered red, nice touch.

BUT....

Is it just me or does the red splatter resemble the halo of the sun?

Atomheart, I moved your post here since there isn't really enough to warrant its own discussion.

I agree with Aura though, it just looks like blood on a torchlight.

When doing the Dead Man's Hand sidequest, the body that you have to return the heart to is Adam Shepard. Kinda like how Angela's model was reused as the corpse the Closer was eating in Silent Hill 3
You can take my heart
And hold it together as we fall apart
Maybe together we can make a mark in the stars we embark
And keep us together as the lights go dark

I thought it looked like a Halo of the Sun at first, too, if that says anything. I kept moving it around to see if I could see anything. The light appears kind of broken up, like in a pattern, but it probably isn't.

Yeah I looked again and think maybe not. Probably just a case of pareidolia.
