Well if you want a ranking on a scale of 1 to 10, I would have to give it an 8. It was a decent game, and definately worth your time and money. :D Now that is an 8 for the game itself, as for everything else in the game.

"presentation" 9

"sound and music" 8

"characters and storyline" 8

"atmosphere" 8

gameplay and replayability" 7... A 7 because the game itself is a bit short, however it keeps you coming back for more. And alway's has something that you may have missed such as items, and endings to the game.

Overall the game is a solid 8 1/2 Not bad, not the best game ever But decent.

I think this one goes so close to the heart of SH, the original, and that is where my heart is.
I am talking scenery and scare factor, here.

Not story line.

From a storyline perspective,
I have to finish it first.

OST?
Akira Yamaoka's best work yet.
Ranking for that would go

SH0
SH4
SH3
SH2
SH

That is sound track, not Ambient Noise.

why is everyone mean to SH4? i thought it was a good game. it's the only SH that had me scared at night. sure the story was a little weak, but i liked it
for me it would be:
SH3/SH2 <---tie :(
SH4
SH1

My thoughts exactly.

You must rememeber that originally The Room was originally not supposed to be a Silent Hill at all.

I read what scanman said in antoher thread and I take back this ignorant post.

Fair enough, play it through and you'll love it (provided you can look past the graphics and voice over).

If you're withholding your ranking for Origins until you finish it to see how the storyline is, I think you'll find that in the end there's very little story to speak of.

I'm stunned they actually managed to make a Silent Hill game that is shallower in plot than SH3. Say what you will about The Room's gameplay, but at least it had something interesting to say and plot details to be analysed.

Perhaps people here just aren't asking the right questions to discuss. . . .
