What is Angela in the game for?...and what is the knife for?

James got a letter. From a dead person. Oh dear.

Angela: "Mama! Mama, I was looking for you."

[Angela walks toward James, while James backs away from her]

Angela: "Now you're the only one left. Maybe then.... Maybe then I can rest."

[James prosides to back away from her]

Angela: "Mama, why are you running away?"

[Angela puts her hands on James' face. She examines his face closely and then backs away]

Angela: "You're not Mama. It's you... I, I'm sorry..."

i was thinking about this today, that you don't see PH's knife until after you take the one from angela (i think) and they are both the same shape (albeit much smaller). sure this has been discussed. i think she's there for her own sins and by taking the knife, james incorporates it into his own delusions.

Aren't most knives similar looking, though? I can't imagine one looking much different from the other.

i meant that if you look at angela's knife, at least when she's holding it at the mirror, it has a slightly different shape than the usual, in that the top curves down and the blade is flat. if you turn it over, that's what the great knife looks like, with the blade on the other side. the great knife is unusual the way the handle is on it in comparison to the blade. and angela's knife is a much less common style of knife.

Looks like a regular butcher knife to me. Especially when you examine it in the inventory, or when James looks at it after she puts it down.

It doesn't look anything like the red pyramid thing's knife.

i know it looks different outside of the cutscene. but there, in that cap, it's got the same shape as the great knife, which is unique in that the handle is on the bottom edge. They do look similar there.

You have no idea what you're talking about: her wrists aren't red & she doesn't kill herself. If you've read the topic--somehow I doubt--you'd know she killed her Father, Thomas, using that knife.

Which video are you looking for? We have a thread in the media section of our site floated to the top of the page for people to ask for specific videos. It may have already been posted, so you should check it out.

And now your avatar is too big. That size is 100x100.

i thought it was weird, too, that where she's lying in front of the mirror, it looks like the carpet is stained with blood under her. like a puddle of dried blood.

But James couldn't even handle the responsibility of his dying wife. What makes you think he could have helped a poor, mentally broken girl like Angela?
Good point. Maybe Angela is there to drive through the point to James, that he had no business trying to save Mary from her misery by
PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER_SHOW PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER:
killing her
and that it wasn't his choice to make. Sorry if i'm stating the obvious.
I can't believe i earned 10 Silent Hill cash for this.

Isn't it odd that you don't see PH with his knife until you get Angela's knifw?

Not at all. If it were the other way around, people would probably say, "Isn't it odd that you don't get Angela's knife until you see PH with his knife?"

It's not something worth overthinking.

True, I guess. I thought that would make an interesting point. I guess not. =P

i think it's a totally valid point that you don't see ph with the great knife until you get angela's. and that once you get the great knife, ph only has a spear.
