Another interesting fact is that the Otherworld's basis is supported, apart from the guilt, by the townspeople's deranged emotions and frustration caused by years of unnatural relationships and adherence to distorted values. Indeed, how can one live a normal life, when on every step of it the person must calculate ahead about how and when is he going to conceive one child to sacrifice and another one who will continue the legacy, all the more by taking into account with whom and within what interval.
