She's right. I don't know one child with a full-time job and children. They're a clever bunch. . . .

And you say this as a parent?

Children are a lot smarter than people give them credit for...
You misunderstood what I was trying to say. I am not saying they are dumb, just do dumb things because they do not think things through. There are actual statistics in psychology that show that children are most dangerous because they have what I cal "superman syndrome". They tend to think I will never get hurt, that only happens on tv or to someone else. Or for the younger ones (like mine), they just really do not even consider what the consequences are. I know they are smart, my kids are very very intelligent. I also teach very brainy kids. I just know that they do not sit down and consider what can happen.

But the point of my original post about Laura is that she did all that foolish, risky stuff because it's pretty obvious she's been used to getting things her own way. A very strong "I want" personality, or a spoiled brat, for short.

Which incidentally, is also why I don't think she's very suitable to represent the card "Strength", and that Cybil Bennett would be a better choice.

I have a 7 year old who knows if he gives me a nice firm punch in the fractured area of my back, I'm going to let him go so he can run off and do as he pleases. Thankfully I got him to stop that.

I told him I would end up living my life in a wheelchair and never be able to run around and play with him again. Then I sat him down and told him that it was not a nice thing to do, and how would he feel if I did it to him. It is hard for him to grasp sometimes because of the Asperger's.

Anyway, back to the Tarot. What would we do with the minor Arcana? Would you use monsters for them, or just mix it up with different characters?

http://www.tarotpedia.com/wiki/Tarot_Cards#Extra_Cards

This here article explains that the cards are made from a single sheet of a total of 80 cards. There are a total of 78 cards. Of the other two, they can be used to either replace damaged or missing cards or to create a new card. This being said... the fictional Eye of Night card.

Actually, the Major Arcana is pretty much set, as they have been since medieval times. A lot of writers and fantasy fiction just randomly make up extra figures just so because it suits their purpose for their particular plots. I don't think the original creators of the Tarot ever intended to make allowances for new additions.

-Stephen King made up the Prisoner, the Sailor, the Lady of Shadows and Life for his Dark Tower series (although he did make the character Walter say that some of the cards in his Tarot deck are "of his own making")

-DC Vertigo's Lucifer comics added Rage, Innocence and Glory to the living Tarot Deck called the Basanos

-Jojo's Bizarre Adventure added several as well, such as "Cream" and gods of ancient Egypt

-Robert McCammon completely altered the descriptions of the whole Major Arcana in his novel Swan Song, even adding extra designations of "Pages" for each of the four suits.

Probably. But the Necronomicon Tarot by Donald Tyson has 78 cards. I've seen the pics for some of the cards and the artwork is really cool. Thankfully, the artist, Anne Stokes, is a freelance artist. Here's the link to her profile at DeviantArt. http://ironshod.deviantart.com/

But if we are to make this work, we're all gonna have to agree on which character goes where first. Then there are the copyrights, so we're gonna need to get permission from whoever made the series. I'm under the impression that it is Konami, but its hard to tell what with the teams changing each time. Team Silent... Team Climax... Who's who?

See... there's a reason why that particular Tarot deck has 78.

Namely, it was a personal creation by a particular person, not made by the original creators of the Tarot way back in the Middle Ages

There are many decks and each one has its own set number of cards.

I would totally buy a SH tarot deck. It would beat the hell out of my Rider Waite deck :)

SH Tarot Deck would be awesome! But no one's mentioned anything about the minor arcana (at least not that I"ve noticed). They can be just as symbolic as the major arcana. :?

The minor arcana is just a matter of replacing the Cups, Swords, Wands and Pentacles with objects from the series anyway. Although it might be interesting to think about the stand-ins for the Pages, Knights, Kings and Queens for the four suits.

Any ideas?

The page, knight, king, and queens might be a bit tricky. But what about: The Talisman from SH3 OR the halo of the sun medallion from SH4 for pentacles; obsidian goblet from SH2 for the cups; wooden plank for wands; katana for swords. :/
