SH1 to (Possibly) Become Unavailable Digitally Forever Soon

Have you seen Harry's daughter anywhere? Short, dark hair?

SH1 to (Possibly) Become Unavailable Digitally Forever Soon

Post by Droo »

For those who don't already have their digital version of SH1 on the PS3, make sure to get it before July when the PS3 PSN Store shuts down forever.

Damn, it's really weird to think that this game is about to possibly become archived forever like the rest of the early games (SH4 on GOG and the horrendous HD Collection aside).

I hope Sony ports it to PS5 someday. but in case this is it make sure to get it!

This thread made me sad, even though I downloaded the PS3 version a while back and couldn't play far into it because of the glitches, and went right back to playing my physical copy. (I still keep my PS2 around and handy for SH games and others.) I want as many people as possible to be able to play the original SH. It deserves to be loved and appreciated by many.

Did they ever fix the issues of that version, like that crazy glitch with the lasting high-pitched noise that would happen after firing the gun?

I hope that someday, all of our beloved classic SH games will be rereleased for modern consoles like they've been doing for RE games (not that I've kept up with those, but I've heard good things about them). I know that won't happen anytime soon, but I have faith SH will be coming back around again at some point, even if it takes years . . . and years.

Thanks for posting a heads-up for everyone! Great idea.

I've been playing the PS3 version over the last couple of months with no issues. Have made it to Green Lion without anything standing out.

That's good! Maybe I should try it out again.

I bought it for my PS3 about 5 years ago. It's been safely stored!

Good thing my PSX and my SH copy are still working, I try to take the most care of them along my other classic consoles... This is why I like to depend on digital re-releases or "collections"

Oh wow that's really good news.

It will happen eventually, I'm sure, but at least right now things are still okay. There's so many games that were about to be either lost or permanently incomplete.

Wow, I'm genuinely surprised. The value of a back catalog is fleeting and imprecise, and has a more direct relationship with brand affinity than with revenue figures. Kudos to whoever convinced Sony execs that this was ultimately about trust.

The high pitch noise bug? I believe that only occurs with the physical disc version via PS3 BC. The digital version doesn't have that issue.
