Are these quotes actually real? Because knowing AITT I'm half-suspicious that he just ran something funny through a translator.

^Playing dumb will get you nowhere in here!
I remember reading somewhere that it did better overseas than here, but I can't seem to find it now. I'm sure it did fine, even without the tentacle rape.

I found this clip pertaining to the situation at hand and it is quite interesting...

I am pretty sure that the film did better in Japan than it did here.

I don' t know about the Japanese edition, but in France we got a 2 discs BluRay Special Edition.Regardless, I wouldn't mind seeing just what exactly is on those extras... Still haven't brought myself to buying the movie yet. I thought it was the best video game movie so far, but it still wasn't that great. Maybe one day if Amazon puts the bluray on sale.
There' s four different covers so that you can pick your favorite or switch anytime (PH, Nurses, Cult members or Janitor).
The first Blu Ray includes the movie, a Christophe Gans comment track, an Andrew Mason and Sebastien Prangère comment track, and two pictures in pictures (one to show the movie without special effects, one to show some behind the curtain pieces).
The second BluRay features a 87mn documentary, "In between worlds", One Akira Yamaoka interview, one Christophe Gans and Akira Yamaoka interview in a Fnac in Paris, One Christophe Gans comment about the SH2 game (pretty interesting), some short videos about SH1 and SH2 games, two making of (Path of Darkness, 59mn, On stage, 15mn), featurette, teaser, trailer, pictures ...
I found the Fnac interview on you tube, but it' s just the first half of it, I couldn' t find the second half.
Oh well, the english subs are übercrap anyway (for the French parts) ...

It ' s interresting to see that ALL the monsters were real actors, at first I thought most of them were CG.

Re: What did the Japanese Think of this?
I thought that the Japanese responded very well to this. In point of fact, the film was MORE popular in Japan than here, I think.
