Re: Did innovations in combat mechanics enhance your experie

Keep in mind, it is possible to have incredibly intense atmosphere and fun combat in a horror game. Condemned and Condemned 2: Bloodshot are good examples, and I'd really like to see this translated well into a Silent Hill game while still retaining the spirit of the series. Homecoming was sort of a...

Re: Question About One Of The Endings

My bad, I should've clarified before that Murphy tried but did not explicitly murder Napier. ^If he were guilty he would still be in Silent Hill. That's why he was there in the first place. I don't believe Silent Hill trapped Murphy because he's guilty, but that the town is making it a point to show...

Re: Question About One Of The Endings

Except we know that behind the vehicle isn't solely water; it's more foresty areas, and Murphy's put up enough with his guilt that he's obviously not going to just go and kill himself. Anne goes to get justice for someone that's been abusing his power for far too long. I'm not saying Murphy drowns ...

Re: Question About One Of The Endings

Has anyone else noticed how Ending B ends up with both Anne and Murphy repeating their mistakes? Not only is it hinted that Anne seeks revenge for her father at worst, but it's implied that Murphy decides to end his own life. "There's someplace I gotta be," is what Murph says when Anne ask...

Re: Graphically speaking.

As far as textures and modeling goes (and not art direction/mood), Homecoming's graphics were moderately adequate to abysmal for its time, and I don't think it deserves a direct comparison to previous generation games such as SH2 and SH3. That said, some of the character modeling and texturing were ...

Re: Monster / Character / Location Symbolism

Keep in mind that the monsters could be an abstract representation of Anne's past as well. The Bogeyman is a prominent monster that Murphy seems to have no part in creating, and I believe it was entirely imagined by Anne without any conscious/unconscious reflection on part of Murphy.

The Circular Saw and Laser Gun are found after completing the game once. The Laser gun I do believe is in Alexs room in the secret room on top of the suitcase, and the Saw is in the Garage of the Shepherd home...this is what I was told anyways. Hope that helps :D I found the Circular Saw, but no La...

ur-vile wrote:Crap, I must have remembered that wrong. but then again, why would Douglas cover up the workings of The Order? he saw what they were capable of.
The article says Douglas did the exact opposite and exposed the Order to the world. Paul Scheibe (the author of the article) was disproving Douglas.

I deal with Schisms by a constant knife barrage, I am starting to wonder if the ONLY disadvantage to the knife is the short range! Thus far its effective on...everything outside of bosses and needlers in my experience. Knives are effective on everyone save Smogs, which can't be approached in close ...

Okay, i've JUST started having trouble with nurses. They seem to get me in a corner, then they just keep slashing and I cant do a thing to stop them! They let off when I have a tiny bit left, then I dodge, attack, then they get me again and I die.. >< Any way to solve this? Use a knife and slash ba...

Only way to deal with Smogs is to shoot them. Even Siams are more kind and forgiving if you get within their range.

Schisms can be even more dangerous than Siams if you don't dodge and attack properly, since their bladed heads will land some hefty damage.

Beat it and got "Smile". Probably the best ending for Alex, since he just limps out of Silent Hill while holding on to Elle.

There is an article found in the Underground area near the end of the game mentioning Douglas and "disproving" the existence of a cult presence in Silent Hill. It was written by Paul Scheible, which suspiciously sounds like another journalist we know, Joseph Schreiber. Yeah, and you get an...

I side with syntheticlung on violence. Gore shouldn't be something strange to the franchise, but I just get the impression that DH is forcing us to watch so much gruesome stuff. I have no quips about going over the top with gore, but it seems out of place. I don't like being reminded of Saw or other...

While I was at the Police Station, I searched around and only found 2 Health Drinks, but no Rifle. I don't have the Crowbar either. Boooo

But hey, this Ceremonial Dagger is awesome. Besides, I've used it on almost anything when I melee.

Yes. Like other Silent Hills, some weapons are better for dealing with certain monsters than others. Nurse - Knife. Lurker - Both Knife and Steel Pipe work well. Creepers - Knife. Feral - Knife. Smog - Pistol. Needlers - I particularly favor the Fireaxe, but other melee weapons can be used too (have...

[HELP] Josh! Don't let me fall!

I suppose we can start making a thread where fellow members who have the game can ask each other for help if they're ever stuck or need advice. I. Weapon Locations II. Puzzle Solutions III. Enemies and Boss Strategies IV. Endings [/u] I) Weapon Locations Combat Knife - Can be found at the beginning ...

After about 6 hours of straight playing and being stuck at the 2nd boss for the last half hour, I've decided to go ahead and give my impressions of the game. Got comfortable with the over-the-shoulder camera. Not really missing the old SH positioned cameras thanks to much easier controls and movemen...
