Re: How are we feeling about Ascension so far?
Yeah, I'm gonna have to do the same. I haven't watched a single episode outside of the first one on Halloween. Far as I know the whole thing is available on Tubi TV or something so it can at least be watched on something other than a phone or laptop (which I really dislike).

Re: James character model updated?
While it does look more like the original James, it doesn't really age him a decade like we were told was gonna happen in the Transmission . It also looks like the original trailer we were shown has multiple versions of James, including this new one. So while it may be new , it's actually still an o...

Same. I'm hoping Pop-Up Parade does one like it did of Pyramid Head — and at only $35. Got mine a couple weeks ago and it's great.leftshoe18 wrote: ↑05 Apr 2024 I want this but I can't justify that price right now. Hopefully some less expensive Short Message merch hits shelves at some point.

If only we had a resident expert on timelines.....oh well. No idea how I missed this comment entirely. I must have avoided the thread because at the time I hadn't played it yet and wanted to go in blind. What we know from the game is Maya's great-grandmother, the "Witch of the Far East," ...

Re: ESRB Rating and something weird...
That's basically it. Maria finds ways to make innocent comments sexual. Just like at Rosewater Park when James first meets her. He tells her, "I got a letter from [Mary]. She said she was waiting in our 'special place.'" To which she says, "So, the hotel was your 'special place', huh?...

Re: Silent Hill 2 remake has reached the late stage of production
A Mexican retailer has a release date of 30 May, 2024.
This is good news because a) placeholder dates are generally the end of the month, b) May has 31 days, c) the 30th is a Thursday, and d) games tend to be released on Thursdays nowadays.

THE SHORT MESSAGE ~ Game Script
SILENT HILL: THE SHORT MESSAGE CHAPTER 1 Anita (voiceover): Seeking a connection with others is a sign of weakness… It’s running away. The strongest animals don’t form groups; they act alone, and need only themselves to survive. Those who betray themselves to fit into a group are pathetic… There’s ...

>There's also a problem with it being a "small tourist town" from the beginning since it's described as having a population of like 30,000 during the events of SH1< Well that's the thing—and why that number doesn't matter anymore. During the events of SILENT HILL, we are looking at a sleep...

Re: Silent Hill 2 - Combat Reveal Trailer
I think people are forgetting this isn't 2001 anymore and games don't look the same. SILENT HILL 2: REMAKE, objectively, looks great. Not sure how that's even a conversation at this point.

Re: The "S.H.P." [MASSIVE SPOILERS BEWARE]
We know she's the one who experienced only a foggy Silent Hill—no monsters, none of that—and would probably have some kind of story to tell. Dr. XXX is also a social psychologist, so it's possible Laura was their patient (who wouldn't need therapy after that shit?) and it came out that she vaguely r...

Re: The "S.H.P." [MASSIVE SPOILERS BEWARE]
I don't think the "Silent Hill Phenomenon" is an explanation for the actual events of previous Silent Hill titles. How I interpret it is a way for others to explain the now-storied disappearances of certain people in a psychological and metaphysical way—even though it's not actually the ca...

Re: HExadrive pitched remaking SH2 before Bloober
What I especially like about these renderings is the DOWNPOUR-style notebook and that the map is hand-drawn, rather than a physical copy that would just get tossed the second James exits the building he's in. That's a nice touch I'd like to see more of.

Konami Potentially Porting 'Silent Hill' Series
Apparently HexaDrive—the developer of THE SHORT MESSAGE—originally approached Konami to do SILENT HILL 2: REMAKE. They were denied. However, a few months later, Konami reached out to HexaDrive about potentially porting other games of the series. Source. Maybe we're looking at the Summer of Silent Hi...

Re: Silent Hill 2 - Combat Reveal Trailer
Didn't like the button prompts for when James is grabbed. We know what button to press, kill the HUD shit or at least let me turn it off. Another funny detail is that he was "grabbed" by a Lying Figure, a monster without arms :o. In all fairness, in ORIGINS the Straighjackets will wrap Tr...

Re: Silent Hill 2 remake has reached the late stage of production
Its also worth noting today is the 25th anniversary of the first game. I know it was addressed on the Discord but thought I'd clarify that on here, too. SILENT HILL was released in North America on 23 February, 1999. Not 31 January. For some reason that misinformation has been propagated for so lon...

SILENT HILL: ASCENSION's soundtrack available on streaming services
Like the title says. Here's the link to Spotify.
Haven't listened to any of it yet, besides the opening track, and while that alone is very different than your typical Akira Yamaoka, I don't dislike it. Looking forward to playing the rest.
