Re: Your favorite ending and why.
It has vexed me for a long time why Rebirth can't be achieved until getting one of the other endings. It's not a joke or bonus ending, it is plot-significant and is the only ending in which James appears to get what he initially claimed to want. I can see some gameplay-related justifications for th...

Re: George Sewell
He's effective as an antagonist, but

I honestly liked the brief dynamic he was shown to have with Murphy in Ending D. In that ending, he seemed like more or less a genuinely good guy who treated Murphy like the scum he was just to piss him off.

Re: Which Ending Was Your Favorite? *SPOILERS AHEAD*
For some reason, I like Full Circle a lot. I don't even know why. Just the idea of someone being "stuck" in Silent Hill, forced to relive a horrible cycle over and over again hits my sadist bone, especially when you realize Murphy is legitimately supposed to be a GOOD GUY in this ending. ...

Re: A True Ending of Silent Hill 2, & Why
As much of a stretch as this might sound, here's what I think could've happened to prompt Laura to leave alongside James. What if she just forgave him? While Laura might come across as bratty for a good portion of the game, that's because she believes she's acting in Mary's defense by getting back a...

I can see the aftermath of Rebirth playing out exactly the same way the movie ended.Rev wrote:On the flipside, I like the possibility of Rebirth ending up like a creepy Stephen King story. Pet Sematary, anyone?

Re: What's up with Eddie's clothes?
I believe there is a reason why James interacts and sees the people he does. For example, I think if we played as Angela we would interact with James and possibly a couple "new" people which intersect more with her problems and her story. We see Eddie interacting with Laura, and Laura's p...

Re: What Was The Reasons Behind This Cutscene *Spoliers*
I think it does serve a purpose because it is an awfully sad conversation to listen to, and the choice to listen to the headphones increases your likelihood of getting the "In Water" ending, so I think it just sends James into more of a downward spiral to listen to it. Same with listening...

Re: James and Mary in another point of view
It's a legitimate fact that the main reason for doing it was to end her suffering. I actually think this is an aspect of James' actions and character that can vary depending on the player. At least, if you accept the dialogue at face value, which I see no reason not to do. Leave: Here, it's more ou...

Re: "Execution" ending theory
I still hold with the theory that Murphy is really just continuing to indulge his problems in their testing and torturing of him at that point. Interesting. Can you expand on that a little bit? Are you saying the events of the game really did happen, and Murphy's just rolling with what going on aro...

Re: What's up with Eddie's clothes?
Eddie's extremely visceral reaction to the body in the fridge makes me wonder if he wasn't unaware of what he had done for some time as well. James regretted and despised his actions while Eddie embraced them. Other than that, I think they both had a similar episode. That goes for Angela too. I don...

Re: Which ending was the REAL ending?
Fair enough. I personally find that certain "shoot the shaggy dog" or "downer ending" stories can be quite entertaining (Funny Games, No Country for Old Men), but I do see your point about James' lack of progress as a character, though I think it can add to the game, rather than ...

Re: Your favorite ending and why.
QUOTE: He also can finally be with Mary again, in the afterlife (assuming that there is an afterlife and that he goes to the same place as her). That's quite an assumption, especially in light of the warning in Bar Neely's. Not any bigger of an assumption than that the Maria ending might turn out o...

Re: Which ending was the REAL ending?
If guilt was the primary reason he wanted to kill himself, he should end up not wanting to die, because he has faced his guilt and gotten more absolution than would otherwise ever be possible I'm not a hardcore "In Water" fanboy, but I think it's worth playing devil's advocate on. Absolut...

Sounds plausible to me, and is largely consistent with the information we're given about his character.

James' personality (SPOILERS)
How does he interact with others in normal, day-to-day circumstances? How does he feel about people? How did he treat Mary as a wife before she became ill? I bring this up for discussion because I think the game itself is rather vague. I think we're meant to assume he's a normal, "nice" gu...

What's up with Eddie's clothes?
Why are they so inappropriate given his age (I believe the BOLM gives it as 23)? I've heard two interesting guesses about "what" Eddie is; that he's a manifestation meant to represent the part of James that has little to no regret for what he's done, flees from consequences, and embraces d...

Re: [Evidence] Vincent was not joking on the monster thing..
When I originally read the "They look like monsters to you?" line out of context, I thought it implied the reverse of what's commonly assumed; that to Vincent, the monsters look like, say, angels or beautiful creatures rather than hideous abominations. He seems quite fond of the Otherworld...

Re: Humorous/Funny Parts
"They're coming." *beat* " Who ?" I don't know why, but everything about that moment is flawless . From the delivery of the line to Murphy's hand movements. It's like they put all their budget into that one gesture. There was a Weeping Bat that was standing a few yards from Murph...

Re: [Evidence] Vincent was not joking on the monster thing..
Yes Vincent, they do look like monsters to me. If they're actually not, it only means I'm hallucinating and can't be held responsible for my actions. Not that I would give a shit even if they were, since I kill people in video games all the time. And trying to guilt me won't take away from the fact ...
