Did anybody else enjoy? (ENDING SPOILER MAMMOTH AHEAD YARRR)
Did anybody else enjoy playing as the boogeyman at the end? I know it was a bit cheesy and silly but I really got into it, it made for a great change of pace. It was also a powerful (unintentionally bad pun) and cleverly symbolic way to conclude the game. I was reading around and noticed a lot of pe...

Re: Got Downpour? Want to share impressions? Post them here!
I was going to post my impressions when I was about 5 hours in but I decided to wait, I'm glad I did. I honestly didn't think much of the game at first, possibly ranking it as the worst Silent Hill game. I finished it last night and really enjoyed it, I just wish I had explored the town more before ...

Re: "A Storm is Coming in Silent Hill: Downpour" (New previe
The IGN article was talking about the beginning of the game, which is much less open & combat-focused. Tomm clarified that in a recent interview I believe. He said once you make it into the town fully, things open up a bit & the fast-paced style of the beginning takes a back seat to semi-no...

Re: "A Storm is Coming in Silent Hill: Downpour" (New previe
I'm not suggesting that it is going to be exactly as IGN have wrote here, I'm saying just in case it is it will be better to be prepared for that style of game. Either way I am looking forward to this game a lot more than I was 6 months ago. I am so glad they delayed Downpour, it seems to have helpe...

Re: "A Storm is Coming in Silent Hill: Downpour" (New previe
Amusing you'd say that, since video game journalism is rather notorious for its non-journalistic behavior. The way they receive kickbacks, the way they tow marketing lines, the way they punish dissenters when it comes to AAA games (whose publishers have already paid for a good review). Words like t...

Re: "A Storm is Coming in Silent Hill: Downpour" (New previe
I'm also somewhat confused. In the new Developer Demo, Tomm specifically says that the town is bigger than in previous games, with more of places to explore, and he also said that there is less of a focus on combat than in Homecoming. The demo seemed to suggest that what he was saying is true. Perh...

"A Storm is Coming in Silent Hill: Downpour" (New preview)
Silent Hill: Downpour is probably not the Silent Hill game you're expecting, maybe even hoping for. Many of the calling cards from previous Silent Hill games, including a score by Akira Yamaoka, heavy exploration elements, and even much of the town itself won't be appearing in the game. Instead, it...

IGN - "Silent Hill: Downpour Needs More Work"
There's potential here, but the development team needs more time. I'm worried about Silent Hill: Downpour. As a longterm fan of the series I was slightly concerned about Downpour when it was first announced that development duties on the survival horror sequel would be handled by the relatively unk...

Re: The "I got it" & Impressions thread
Finally got around to playing (and finishing) it and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere was incredible (possibly my favourite Silent Hill soundtrack) and it just captured the Silent Hill feeling so well. It definitely doesn't deserve all the harsh criticism (especially from those ...

Re: Anyone else wish this followed the same style as SM?
I honestly think it would be great if they expanded on the Shattered Memories style. The lack of combat is a brilliant concept. I don't get why people prefer combat, well I do from a gameplay perspective. But Silent Hill is far more than that, I don't know about you guys but my sense of fear complet...

Re: Silent Hill 5: Pros (What you like)
So many people didn't read the title of this thread, nearly half the posts are whining and complaining about the game and the 'cons' thread is more than double the size. People really like to be snobbish about this game even with the most minor things, it is very amusing. Anyway, I haven't played it...

Re: Things that annoy you the most?
The loss of room healing didn't bother me. The first half of the game was incredibly easy, probably because 4 was so different from the first three and Konami wanted to get people used to it, and you stockpile quite a few health items for the second half. It wasn't that is stopped healing that anno...

Really? I specifically pointed out the second half and I didn't want to bump an old thread nobody reads. I don't know how it is helpful or pro-active to open a thread and then post "Deletion?" as a reply.

You know what I think would've made the last half better?
What really managed to draw me in with the last half of SH4 was when you return to apartment world (or just step outside your room really) and you really begin to understand Walter's past and feel sorrow. I found it beautifully sad when you could hear him calling for his mother and father throughout...

I should mention it's not putting me off too much I'm just a bit disappointed, you could insert that creature into any game. It looks like a scrapped concept from The Suffering or something.
Fingers crossed we get some truly fearsome and morbidly intriguing monsters!

Re: Trailer: Crack
Argh, I opened this thread hoping to find a new trailer entitled crack maybe demonstrating a new gameplay mechanic or theme hahaha... :( The part you are talking about looks like the otherworld transition. Water and ice seems to be breaking through the wall and then a monster appears straight after....

I am well aware of that, that is why I said more live-action experience. Honestly they had some pretty high-profile names attached to the first movie and Mary isn't quite at that level of ability or experience.

You didn't think the massive pyramid on his head was proportioned oddly compared to the rest of him? Besides he is more in the category of abstract imagery as I said. What I said isn't oversimplified or "false", it's very much a part of what makes Silent Hill different to every other horro...

Re: Things that annoy you the most?
Well, a few of these loading screens have taken literally over half an hour to load, but eventually they work. The one I'm stuck on now isn't promising though. I just got this copy, didn't happen with the one I sold. Anyone else experience this??? My Ps2's old and a bit crappy, but every other game...
