Re: How to make it looks like SH1
Hello. I want to know a simple thing, what are the answers I need to put on the pshychatric test to make the game most similar to Silent Hill 1. Also I would like to know if it's scarier, else I'll play Origins this weekend! (Halloween, can't miss that). Take the Friendly/Family PI route. When the ...

Re: Coming to EU PSN
Hey, good deal! Especially considering the original disc is nearly impossible to get ahold of for a reasonable price these days (fortunately I still have my copy that I bought about 8 years ago.)
Glad to see that my personal favorite entry in the series will get some lovin' in the near future.

Re: Interview: Clifford Rippel on his role as Vincent in SH3
Lovely interview! Especially, it gave me more insight into the process they used to capture voiceover for the game. According to him, the voiceover directing was certainly more thorough than I had initially thought. Perhaps the reason for some subpar voice acting was the reason he mentioned; he was ...

Re: Do you think Silent Hill Origins was worth playing?
Oh, sure. It was worth playing once. Once. However, I rarely have any desire to pick it back up for a repeat playthrough. I think a year or two back I turned it on, chucked a TV at a nurse, and decided I'd had enough. It's simply the weakest entry in the franchise that I've played. You have a wooden...

Re: How did you feel when the game ended?
Simply put, I was stunned. I wasn't expecting it. I wasn't ready for it. It hit me, and it hit me hard; I felt depressed for the remainder of that evening. I simply didn't see it coming, but it brought the game's mystery full circle with a remarkably emotional payoff. And on repeat play-throughs, it...

Re: voice acting seem a lill shotty to anyone else?
I mean, there was a pretty long period of time where a lot of Playstation games did have pretty sub-par voice acting, so the agonizing is not without reason.dragonflydusk wrote:Granted, I typically think people overly agonize over a lot of video voice acting/dubbing

Re: Silent Hill 2 too easy?
The people who complain about too many items in later games always cracks me up because I always end up with a TON of items. Mainly because I always have a fear of needing them later on. I never once used a single golf club in SH4 just because I was always worried I would need them later. Before I ...

I'm a pretty big fan of the God of Thunder outfit.
She kinda blends in with the look of alternate Silent Hill, which is neat.

Re: voice acting seem a lill shotty to anyone else?
I'm fairly certain the scenes required more than one take. The making of Silent Hill 3 reveals a slightly different delivery of Heather's line to Claudia on the rooftop, which was more like... " DID YOU DO THIS! " As opposed to... "...did you do this?!" Although, it could simply...

Re: voice acting seem a lill shotty to anyone else?
Heather was almost perfect but the highly emotional/passionate parts seemed a little forced. A lot of people seemed to be critical of Douglas, but to me he came off as a kinda awkward guy who just wasn't good with teenagers. That's how I've always felt Douglas was intended to portrayed, so I felt t...

Re: Does Anyone Else Get a Certain Feeling From This Game?
I don' t really have a favorite, I like each of the four first SH for their own strength. What' s obvious though is that the first one is the scariest, for many reasons : - The fog is the deepest fog of all the games, which means you always see things at the last moment. That' s probably the reason...

Everybody loves to sing the Sirent Hill song.
But as has been said, don't read into it too much.

Re: IGN Names Silent Hill 2 As One Of The Best PS2 Games Eve
Hah, Silent Hill games always lose out in gamefaqs polls. It's a useful website, but I generally don't regard the opinions of the community too highly.
I'm glad Silent Hill 2 got props, even if it should've been higher up on the list.

Re: voice acting seem a lill shotty to anyone else?
Admittedly it's not one of the better voiceovers in video gaming, but it certainly isn't "a lil shotty", not by any stretch of the imagination. If anything, the voice actors definitely could've used some better directing, but overall I feel everybody did fine. Douglas and Vincent in partic...

Re: Does Anyone Else Get a Certain Feeling From This Game?
There's definitely a general strangeness to Silent Hill 1 that the other games don't have. I don't chalk it up to nostalgia myself, but rather to a lot of little things the game does that add up over time. The school with all the odd, indistinguishable posters, the fact that items of importance are ...

Re: Do you need to play SH1 first?
Personally I feel it's absolutely crucial to play 1 before 3. The big thing 1 has on its side is the mystery; its plotline is so vague and cryptic, that it makes the player feel more frightened and isolated in a way while playing. Because you never truly understand what is happening, it makes it muc...

Oh, the axe, hands down. It was quick and powerful, and not to mention, it had the best looking charged-up attack in the game.

Re: Lack of ammunition?
I rather liked the relative lack of ammunition. 1 & 2 had ammunition all over the place, and it made for little in the way of challenges. Silent Hill 3 amped the intensity by not only having less ammo all over the place, but by having monsters that need more hits to be taken down, and they frequ...
