Very pleased that they kept the weird face door in the corridor after the Pyramid Head fight.
EDIT: Okay, this technically isn't so much an easter egg as it is a feature they remembered to include, but I was still pleased as punch to see it!

Re: Silent Hill, according to Angela:
Bumping this to say that the remake - inadvertently or otherwise - pretty much confirmed this theory, looking at the venue for the new Abstract Daddy fight.

Re: First Impressions
Woodside is nothing. If you're scared already I fear for you later on. It could just be the 25 health drinks and 16 syringes I have in store, but I'm actually a lot less scared now that I'm about to enter the labyrinth. :P Unless the scariest is yet to come! EDIT: I think I might know which area yo...

I'm used to games pulling some weird physics jank, but killing a mannequin against a pipe actually draped the body over the pipe and it looks very natural. https://i.imgur.com/Vv6vqIi.png EDIT: Also loving the look of otherworld Silent Hill streets. The rain is a nice touch! https://i.imgur.com/iUHT...

Re: First Impressions
Right now I'm a chunk of the way through the Woodside Apartments. I reduced the gamma to make the game darker, and holy shit is this game scary. As a SH2 veteran I never expected to raise an eyebrow, but now that things are different and the enemies are smarter I feel myself being extremely cautious...

Re: SPOILERS/EASTER EGGS What cool little easter eggs have you found so far?
I might just be reading into it way too much, but "Einsame Blumen" (lonely flowers) could be a reference to the last line of Your Rain:
"Like a flower in the basement, waiting for a lonely death..."
"Like a flower in the basement, waiting for a lonely death..."

Extremely minor nitpick, but when you get bloody footprints from stepping on a corpse, walking in puddles should clean your shoes.

Re: SPOILERS/EASTER EGGS What cool little easter eggs have you found so far?
It's a little hard to see because of my gamma settings, but this clock in the house with the first Lying Figure encounter is stopped on the solution to the OG clock puzzle (even Scott is on 15!): https://i.imgur.com/sPZ9SN7.png EDIT: It looks like a lot of the clocks are actually stopped at this sam...

Re: SPOILERS Favorite/Least Favorite Changes from the Original
One of my favorite changes is the fact that more rooms/buildings are open to exploration. I wasn't sure how they were going to add more without it feeling empty and pointless, but the way that they peppered items and a fixed amount of ammo around to pick up was very clever. I didn't like the "a...

Re: Bliss ending - theories about it? SPOILERS ALERT
The name "Bliss" and the fact that the ending's trigger is James downing a bottle of White Claudia seem to plainly signify that he's just getting fucked up and imagining himself with the Mary on the tape, but I would love to have it actually be him entering the tape.

Re: "WOW" Moments
I just watched the two new endings. I remember being sad as hell after watching the original Leave ending in 2008, and Bloober hit me just as hard, if not harder. Masterful work.

Re: I feel SH4 was just a few things away from being the best of the best
I recently watched Vinesauce Vinny play the game, and it was extremely evident how rushed the presentation was in the audio department and a lot of the gameplay. As good as some of the visuals are, they are dwarfed by a lot of very obvious issues that a remake could fix.

"WOW" Moments
In light of the overwhelmingly positive reception of the new SH2 remake, let's talk about some of things we have seen/experienced in the game so far that have genuinely impressed or wowed us. For me, it was seeing a damaged Lying Figure fall to the ground and actually spread a trail of blood on the ...

Re: Silent Hill 2 - Combat Reveal Trailer
I think somewhere between Silent Hill 2's braindead combat and Homecoming's pain in the ass combat lies the sweet spot.

Re: Is Konami now more open to a non-canon/hands-off approach?
>with the first four games you at least felt that it glued together in some weird, messy way.< This, honestly, is what's kept me attracted to the Silent Hill series: A series-wide uniformity and connectedness that ties them all (or at least the majority of them) together. And that's what I want the...

Re: Which ending are you looking forward to?
My favorite ending is In Water, though I think in terms of what the remake can bring to the table, Rebirth will probably be the coolest one to see get updated. Pretty sure it's Rebirth and not even close . Note. That was written nearly 20 years ago so my bombaciousness was on full display. Could pro...

Re: “If you really want to see Mary again” message (possibly) solved
Your posts absolutely astonish me Tom. I wish I could do the kind of deep dives you do. The only thing that bugs me about this one is: does the Japanese version have similar wordplay going on? Is this just for us English speakers?

Re: Silent Hill 2 - Combat Reveal Trailer
Silent Hill 2 needed a combat update so bad. When you compare the overall difficulty and enemy AI to 1, 3, and 4, 2 is by far the easiest because it has the most braindead enemy AI ever. In the other games there's some semblance of strategy required to deal with enemies. In 2, every single enemy wal...

Re: Konami Potentially Porting 'Silent Hill' Series
Going digital is probably the best case scenario for the older games, especially if the ports are clean and don't prevent things like SH2 Enhanced Edition from being able to touch them.

Re: Would you prefer SH1 or SH3 next?
I'd love for 1 to be next. My only concern is that despite being on PSX, Silent Hill 1 has the best environmental ambience of any of the games. I've seen fangames try to remake it with new engines and assets and they invariably add some cliche bullshit that ruins it. Depending on how Bloober Team do...
