If they (Konami) had to take away one game from the series which one would it be and why?

If YOU had to take one away, why?

I don't know which one Konami would remove if they had too but I'd choose 4.
Theres multiple things I don't like about it (controls, gameplay, limited item carrying ability, etc)
Theres some things I don't like or think could've been done better in all the games but the problems I have with 4 realy makes it unenjoyable to play.

I'd completely rid the series of Silent Hill 4. The 21 Sacrements and Walter Sullivan plot is a very creative one for the series, but the game design and basically everything else about the game I frowned upon.

sh4. for the simple fact that it moves the series in no direction.

sh1 shows the start of alessas pain and the otherworld along with god. (origins will show more history but still)

sh2 shows that the town itself is tainted and can manifest and devise on its own with the minds of certain individual people.

sh3 pretty much shows what happens to alessas reincarnation and the god with her.also shows that the powers work beyond that of silent hill.

sh4 shows nothing that sh3 dousnt show, its just a story that has to do with with stuff that happend in the other 3.

Agreed. SH4 kinda jumped the shark for me as well. Besides, I think I read somewhere that SH4 originally wasn't even supposed to be a SH game. Could be a reason it didn't work.

SH4. If you change a few names here and there it doesn't even have to be a Silent Hill game. Really, it can stand on its own. Nifty game, but definitely the square peg in the round hole.

SH4, as it was really just a mature, creepy version of Pac Man with the Silent Hill name slapped onto it.

SH4. All the rest are fun to play.

Seems like everyone can agree that 4 is unnecessary...Now, what if you had to take away from 1-3 only? Disclude 4 existing, then what? Do you count the fact that its a better more fun game? Or do you give into the thought of the main story of "Silent Hill"?

Hmmm

What you read was a lie.

None. I like them all and can't imagine this franchise without any of these. SH4 was 'diffrent' but still great addition to the franchise, especially from the 'cult' point of view

Same with Silent Hill 1, 2, and 3.

The Silent Hill series is a cohesive unit: They all work with one another. Technically the one that isn't necessary is the first--the crucial aspect of its story is demonstrated entirely in Silent Hill 3, in a car ride, specifically designed for the many people that hadn't played the first game because it was no longer available.

I consider the "car scene" in SH3 as also being a "let's spoon-feed the plot of SH1 to everyone in case they don't like to think" scene as well.

SH3 cheapened so much of SH1, that I vote 3.

You don't have to "think" to understand what's explained in that sequence from Silent Hill 1--even by just playing the first game. It's inclusion was for the reason I gave already.

Your signature(s), by the way, exceed the allotted size here. There was a rule discussed before about using images and text--unless that's been changed recently.

Silent Hill Origins, so that I won't be tempted to purchase an otherwise-worthless piece of hardware just to keep up with the latest story developments.

4, simply because I've never found its plot to be as interesting as the others' (yes, that includes SH3.)

There are a lot of people who say that, but my opinion is exactly the opposite. I love Silent Hill 4's story as it adds a lot to the long-running saga and (hopefully) ties up the end of the Order plotline, as well as serving as a connecting mechanism to properly identify the chronological relationship between the rest of the series..

It's the game itself that's a bad joke.
