This is a little FAQ for those looking to inquire about the upcoming movie. Please read this first BEFORE you post a question about the movie. Reading this might eliminate multiple threads asking the same question(s) that have been answered in this FAQ. Please note that this FAQ will be updated and or changed as newer information comes in about the movie.

Question: What is the name of the film? I read that it's being called "Centralia", I think that sucks!
Answer: The film is being called "Silent Hill". The title "Centralia" was being used as a production title when filming started in Canada. It is thought that it was used as a "code name" for the film during pre-production. But once filming started it was confirmed that the title of the film was to be Silent Hill.

Q: Who is directing the movie? I read it might be Uwe Boll and I will kill myself if that asshole is directing it!!!!
A: The director is Christophe Gans. You can look at his filmography on IMDB.com

Q: Who else is making this thing?
A: The writing credits go to Roger Avary and Nicolas Boukhrief. You can view the Full Production Credits over on IMDB.com

Q: Is Team Silent Hill invovled in this thing?
A: To some degree yes. The producers of the film met Akira Yamakoa and members of Team Silent on several occations to talk about Silent Hill's background. As a matter a fact Yamakoa is credited with scoring Original Music for the movie, according to IMDB.com. There was also 3 people from Konami on set at all times to give input and review the dalies.

Q: Who is acting in the film? I think David Boreanz is sooo hot and he would be great as Harry!!!!
A: (Update 2/28/05) Sorry to dissapoint but Harry is not in the film and niether is Mr. Boreanz (thank god), but there are some very good actors that are in the film. They are as follows (according to the Official Silent Hill website):

Q: Wait, Cristabella is in this thing?! But Cybil and Dhalia are in it? Is this based on the comic books or is this based on the game? OMFG!!!! I hope it's not based on the comic books because they suck!!!!!!
A: From the looks of things this movie is not based soley on one paticular medium. It is assumed that this is a story that is a culmination of the first and second games, this according to Christophe Gans in an interview he did with Écran Fantastique. From Pictures Taken From The Set there will be the inclusion of many familiar locations seen in the first two SH games. Also, in Gans' interview he stated that Konami and Tean Silent Hill gave their blessings to make the film and that they felt that he (Gans) would do the franchise justice. So we at least know that Konami trusts the director's abilities to put this game to film.

Q: What is the story/plot about?
A: Here is the plot according to YAHOO Movies

A woman named Rose, desperate to find her child Sharon, finds herself trapped in an alternate dimension as she searches for her daughter in a world of decay inhabited by strange beings. Over the protests of her husband, she flees with her child, heading for an abandoned town to which the child seems drawn. It's soon clear this place is not like anywhere she's ever been. It's smothered by fog, inhabited by a variety of strange beings and periodically overcome by a living Darkness that literally transforms everything it touches. Q: Where was the movie filmed? I hope it wasn't on some hollywood soundstage because that would suck PH balls!
A: The movie was filmed in Brantford, Ontario. There was a section of the town that was in disprepair and boy did it ever look like Silent Hill. Even before the set crews arrived and "dressed" the street you defintiely would have thought you walked into Silent Hill. It was the perfect location to film the external shots for the film. There was also a wherehouse that was converted into a soundtage located outside of Brantford that was used to film interior shots for the film.

Q: Are there pictures of movie released yet?
A: Yes! When the movie began many fans that lived in and or near the town were able to take great pictures of the set. The movie studio has also released "Official" film stills.

Q: Is there a trailer out for the movie?
A: (As of 1/20/2006) YES! The trailer was released first on Yahoo! Movies then on the official site and it is attached to some prints of Underworld:Evolution. See it at WelcomeToSilentHill.com , on Yahoo! Movies or you can view it in HD over at Apple.com

Q: When is the movie going to be released?
A: It has officially been slated for wide release in the US and UK for April, 21st 2006. Please note this date is subject to change and this date only known for the US.

Q: Is there an offical site for the movie?

Q: Has anyone from the movie done any interviews about the movie?
A: Yes. The writer, Roger Avary, has conducted an interview with Edge-Online recently which you can read HERE.

Q: Is there a poster for the movie out yet? I've seen a couple with Johnny Depp and Jean Reno.
A: As of 2/28/2006: The answer is YES. There is an Official Teaser poster for the movie that can be seen on of the Official Site or at Yahoo! Movies. There was a fan submitted poster contest going on where one fan had the chance to win and have thier poster made into the Official Movie Poster. You can see the winner at WelcomeToSilentHill.com

Sony Pictures has also provided a PDF version of some "newspapers" from the Brahams Herald that chronicle some of the mysteries of Silent Hill. The papers have been given out at some conventions and movie theatres. You can view and download the newspaper over on The Official Silent Hill website
