Re: Origins is the best Silent Hill game ever made
This isn't the best Silent Hill game, but I enjoyed it quite a bit. I actually don't have too many complaints about it. The people in this game kind of looked like Sims characters, and the Butcher was a bit iffy. He's made out to be this terrifying personal stalker/executioner guy, and he only appears twice in the whole game. I think he should have been in a few more parts of the game or left out entirely. On the plus side, you got to explore the town, and the bosses were nicely designed except the final boss, which struck me as a Lord of the Rings reject. I also liked the mirror mechanic, and I really hope we have the option to punch monsters with our bare fists in Silent Hill 8.

LMAO. Lord of the Rings reject. The Flauros Demon does kind of look like a fucked up Balrog now that I think about it.
And as for the Butcher... YEAH. He was kind of unimpressive. They were definitely trying to make this haunting figure on par with the popularity of the Pyramid Head... but they just failed. The design was uninspiring, the figure was only in one or two places... and the final battle with him was probably the easiest boss battle in any of the series. If that boss touched you, you're playing Silent Hill WRONG.

^ The butcher boss was pretty easy, but certainly not the easiest, mainly because of the awful camera angles. It was mainly a bullet munch.

Which boss was the easiest for you then? I guess the Sanitarium boss was pretty easy too. But at least she could get in some good hits if you weren't careful, or tried using a melee weapon.
The Butcher was easier IMO, but the camera angles did add a little suspense. The location for the fight was kind of anticlactic as well. But then again, locations in SH games aren't always THAT epic. lol. First PH fight? Stairwell? Yeah? haha

^ Yeah, we need some outdoor boss fights dammit!
Let's see, in Origins I guess I found the first boss the easiest, even though it was more likely to hit me than some of the others. I don't think I've ever been hit by the Sanitarium boss, so maybe she's the easiest?

It's on the roof of Lakeview Hotel. If I remember correctly, it's technically an open-air area with walls around it.Kompwars wrote:i thought the final boss in SH2 was indoors
On topic, Origins impressed me more than I thought it would. I definitely wouldn't call it the best Silent Hill ever made, but I did enjoy it. It's been said here already, but the Butcher wasn't used to his full potential.

Re: Origins is the best Silent Hill game ever made
Can someone clarify this?
I've been thinking, If Travis Grady didn't save Alessa from the fire, just continued driving his truck.
There'd be no Silent Hill game if she's dead right?
So it seems Travis is the most important Silent Hill character ever!!
That or I could be completely wrong.

Well I personally don't treat Origins as canon and it's my belief that the split between Alessa and Cheryl happened during the fire, which is what prevented her death. Can't die unless both of you are dead and all that. But Climax had to stretch the game into five hours.Zeraylph wrote:Can someone clarify this?

Ah ok, thanks eggnog.
So Origins is just basically a sidestory that lasts hours.

lol. u can beat this gam in less than an hour. I did it, in like 55 minutes. I still liked the game though, wish it was longer. The only flaw in this game is the sanitarium. I hate bad stages.

I call bullshit on your beating it in 55 minutes. The walking you have to do alone makes this impossible even without the fighting and the puzzles.

Re: Origins is the best Silent Hill game ever made
I beat it in about one and a half (with the UFO ending). It's a really short game. I think the longest I took on it was my first playthrough at about two and a half hours.

the sound glitches are on the psp version too. but the weird thing is, is that it only occured to me on my first playthrough.....psn version also had cutscene glitches until they fixed itKenji wrote:The sound glitches were on the PS2 version, which is why I ultimately abandoned it and gave the PSP version another go (still haven't finished it, though). Is this thread made of sarcasm, op?
Origins has nothing to do with the best Silent Hill game, except for being a prequel to it.
