More SH2?

James got a letter. From a dead person. Oh dear.

More SH2?

Post by LuLu »

This was posted by Guy Cihi (James' voice actor) on Facebook:

"Konami contacted me after years of no-contact. We are discussing issues related to SH2's continuing popularity. Why now? They either want to re-release SH2 game content, or Sony's SH2 movie involves James Sunderland. I'll keep you posted. There is one line from the game that I would love to deliver in a cameo film appearance. Can you guess which line? What's your favorite James line?"

What are your thoughts on this? Would you rather they re-release SH2 game content or have something completely new related to SH2?

I'm pretty excited about this news, personally. :)

I'm sure if it's in regards to a remake, they'll be nothing but bitching. Maybe it's a port with extra features like interviews and what not?

Interesting tidbit, but it's not much to go on. And who knows if anything will come of it

The sole fact that they made contact with him after all this time, gets me excited.
We are still here...

For some reason I was thinking the voice over artist was also the character model, guess not eh?

I honestly think I'd welcome it. I mean, if it screws with the game too badly, it'll just be shunned by the community and I won't ever play it, but with that possibility to ruin, there is the possibility to make something amazing.

I welcome this idea and earnestly hope for something great.

Well, yeah... And it'd be justifiable bitching, as well. There's absolutely no reason for a remake whatsoever, except to, of course, blatantly milk the cash cow.

I think it's safe to say Monica Horgan won't be back. Cihi HATES her.

I don' t think they would need him for a movie. Maybe they plan to make a HD SH2 remake, maybe they plan to insert a James cameo in SH8. Good news anyway !

That's the beauty of not actually having to act act, you don't have to deal with your partner. If they're going to redo SH2 or make an animated film, they really need to have Monica because after listening to the letter at the end, any other voice won't do.

With the Silent Hill 2 costumes on Home as well, I'm thinking it could be an HD collection of 2,3 &4.

I wouldn't mind whatever they decide to do with SH2. Whether it's a remake, a continuation, or a cameo in the SH2 movie... I welcome whatever and will give anything a chance. I still have my old SH2 to turn to if things go sour with it anyway. ;)

It's also possible that they're trying to figure out the exact reasons why SH2 has remained so popular. This doesn't necessarily mean that we're gonna see an SH2 remake (Cihi doesn't seem to know the exact reasons for contact, judging from his blurb).

It's kinda like how Nintendo developers have supposedly been studying the older Zelda games for the sake of Skyward Sword. Lightning struck, and if they can figure out why it struck - beyond the superficial reasons - maybe they can get it to strike again. That could be what they're thinking.

After all, lightning hasn't been striking despite them aping the most superficial aspects of SH2. So, maybe they're trying to dig a little deeper.

If this contact to Mr. Cihi is work-related it can safely be boiled down to one or more of these three things:
  1. Konami is planning a remastered release of this game for the PS3 with some new in-game dialogue or bonus content. (Not a remake but remastering--supporting the game in widescreen, 1080 resolution with increased texture resolution.)
  2. James, or his voice via audio diaries or such, will make a cameo in SH8
  3. SH2 the movie is either a direct-movie adaptation of its game's counterpart or James, or only his voice, makes a cameo in the movie to pay homage to the game's fans.

^^^I'd have to go with 1 or 3....most likely 1....a possible HD version of SH2, with some bonus interviews from the voice actors. I don't see them touching SH2 at all as far as a remake is concerned and i really don't see them pushing for a cameo of sorts in SH8...it'll kinda kill the mystery of what happened in prt2....if it's just a small audio or some type of video clip, i guess that would be ok, but i really don't want to see another connection to that game.

We know it's one of the most popular entries for the series, there's really no reason for juvenile cameo's or paying any more tributes to it.

Interesting news.

I would like to see a cameo in SH8 or something added to the 2nd movie.

This is what I'm leaning towards myself for being the reason. Correct me if I'm wrong but next year will be the 10 year anniversary of SH2, correct? That could be the reason. Exciting news!

I'd be more than satisfied with a graphic/audio remastering.

Anyone experiencing a nostalgia attack can always go and play the original SH2: The voice acting sucks.
No offense, Mr. Cihi.

Highly doubt it's anything to do with the movie, because Konami wouldn't contact him, Sony Pictures would've... Or most likely just Roger Avary from prison...

Most likely it could've just been one of the SH8 producers trying to get some insight for the next game. I wouldn't take too much from this... He doesn't specify if it was just information or whether they wanted him in particular to come back. And even if they did it could just be because they want him as a voice actor for a different character.

I doubt Konami woul go through all this trouble for a remaster of SH2. The trend if to remaster 2-4(Possibly 0) and out them on PS3 as a collection... but with the exception of the Mortal Kombat Collection which needed to recapture the moves of the characters, they've never required the voice actors to return in any such capacity...

Now if they were to do a faithful remake of SH2 I could see this, but I just don't see this happening at all...
