I'm not sure if the developers had a specific species in mind when they created it, but they very well could have.
I'm probably wrong, but to me, it most somewhat resembles a Convolvulus Hawk Moth.

I really don't understand why people are so scared of moths. They can be just as beautiful (if not more so) as butterflies, and the only way I know of them being able to harm you is if you eat them...
As for the species, I'm not sure really. I disagree with Flashbulb, because the top and bottom wings are quite clearly separated during the battle.
Why not try posting a pic of the boss on a lepidopterist forum? They'll probably be able to answer your question - That is, if it actually is a real species.

How are moths ugly? I see them as delicate, beautiful creatures on the same level as butterflies. Plus, Silk Moths give us silk, but butterflies don't. But that's just because I like raising my cute little children Silk Worms into Silk Moths and letting them go free to populate the world with more Silk Moths

Anyone who would actually look up the species of the moth is obsessed. Congrats, guys. This is pretty awesome and useful to me. Thanks for looking for pictures. It does kinda look like it. I'm being serious.

I've always thought it wasn't based on any one species, but I suppose the artists would use one as a reference. Those photos are fairly similar, though.

At primary school we had silk worms. But then we harvested their cocoons for the silk, and the worms died. Poor things.simeonalo wrote:How are moths ugly? As for the moth boss, I think it's very similar to the pictures posted previously, but it was probably changed and distorted by the otherworld and Alessia's nightmares. Like already mentioned by SH#1fan, it seems to have a stinger. I'm not an expert on moths, but I'm pretty sure they don't have stingers (at least not the ones I've seen).
Re: moth boss
Moth’s don’t have stings, or toxins (none that I’m aware of, at least), so I’m guessing none.
I don't think the specific species of the moth matters, it's more about what moths symbolize in general.

Re: moth boss
When I was a little kid my dad told me something freaky (and untrue) about the wing dust on moths. I don't even remember what it was exactly, other than my mom telling me a while later that he was full of it, but I'm kind of freaked out when they're flying around me because of it still.
