Maria Poster in Observatory Bathroom

Post by simeonalo »

I recently installed SH2: Director's Cut on my computer. Upon playing, I noticed a black and white picture in the bathroom at the beginning of the game. Is it me, or does the person on the picture share a similar appearance to Maria? Is this just a glitch in my copy?

It wasn't very easy to tell, but from what I could see, the chick on the poster does remind me of Maria. I wonder if that's actually her for some reason?

Im not sure if its your version of the game or whatever but thats definitely a good find you have there. I would say the person in that pic it looks very similar to Maria specifically the hair. So yeah, awesome.

Thanks, I'm beginning to think it's a glitch, because there are some minor display issues, and frustrating audio issues. Even when I installed the Audio Fix Patch the sound keeps on bugging and looping.

I think, with the textures above, its pretty easy to assume that it is her. Especially since she had keys to Heavens Nights. I mean, its almost the exact pose. Wonderful find!

That is a positive Maria match.

I have probably played Silent Hill 2 about fifty times over the years, and I have never noticed that poster. Then again, I don't think I have ever really scrutinised any of the surroundings in depth because I'm generally legging it from a Nurse/Mannequin/Lying Figure/random horrible noise.

Hmm, I remember noticing this waaaayyyy back in an old forum days and posting the pictures there. Since that place is long gone, congrats on finding it! Now that you've seen it, you'll always see it. Even if you play the ps2 one, it's still there (but very very blurry)

The real fun part is going to be looking around at everything else you see. I seem to recall seeing "James" on
PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER_SHOW PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER:
the tombstones in the graveyard where you meet angela
and I posted those too, but we deduced at the time that it was a surname.

There is a lot of other stuff to find too. I'd advise going through the game slowly and looking at everything. Even the photographs on walls are more detailed than before.
Only some of my posts are serious.

Yes, it's Maria. It's been discussed in the Hidden areas, camhack pics and videos thread with pics of the game textures.

Maria is a Stripper... And Heavens Night is a Strip Club, apparently shes their main attraction.

How many other 'attractions' are there at Heaven's Night? I doubt RPT would be doing midnight shows for the other creatures. (Though I would certainly watch if he did)

I just find it funny that James didn't notice it. If the players could by chance notice it from so far away, how could James not see it when standing right next to it?

Anyways. Not really anything important I guess. ^^ Nice find though.

Well, there's also the fact that James hadn't even met Maria at that point.

James isn't very observant. How long did it take him to notice the lying figure mauling the body in the background.

But, seeing how Maria looks just like Mary, he should have noticed that.

Or, maybe James' mind altered the picture, maybe it was someone else but his mind inserted Maria, his 'perfect' version of Mary. I don't know, just a thought.

It's also sort of scratched out and faded and messed up. Anyway, a lot of different things in the game refer to either James or Mary (mannequin clothes, etc), so it's not surprising that a Maria poster shows up. Could be a sort of foreshadowing.

When you walk around a town, do you look at every single poster and handbill and promotion around you? Unlikely.

James is probably the same.

Not usually, but everyone has face recognition as a part of their brain. If I see a poster that looks like a good friend or whatever, I do notice it. I go over and check it out or at least do a double take.
