Pitch Black Silent Hill

Post by Anonymous »

Right I understand the difference between Foggy Silent Hill and Alternate Silent Hill (rusty demonic world). But what's the deal with the pitch black world which appears just before you get to the school and during the second half of the game while you're outside. Is it just a shift in time frame, ie it's now night time or is that another realm of Silent Hill?

It's like.... kinda hard to explain but once you play the game for a while the evil influence in the town grows greater, notice the marks of Samael in places, that causes the "Darkness" to grow

The darkness comes anytime that the world shifts. It covers the
light and chokes out all hope. It comes with the Plainshift and
is a part of Allessa's nightmarish delusions come to life.

The turn of the plain comes upon a sirens call. In theory and most
likely true, the siren is a result of Allessa's memories of her fateful
night when she was burned. Amongst all of this burning torment and
fear the siren calls from the Fire Station. In her current status this
sound seems to trigger her nightmares, aggressions, and fear thus
creating the dark and nightmarish inferno.

Sielnt Hill is pretty confusing, it's more of an own-opinion game

As for the theory of the siren yes. This has been prior discussed.

But as for the darkness I stated what actually is. Harry gave proof to
this on the boat with his discussion with Cybil and there are many
other clues that lead up to this fact.

The beauty of SH is in the way that it/they was/were created. To be
explaintory to the point of being able to follow(provided you can keep up)
the story and come to conclusions and theories. SH2 was best for this.

I quite agree with your idea about the sirens being the fire station people.
I look at the darkness as almost the eye of the storm, the deep breath before the plunge into the alternate place.
Its like the inbetween of Foggy and Alternate, the town is still normal (well as normal as it gets) but its dark like Alternate.

Dark Silent Hill is still the same realm, I believe, as Foggy Silent Hill. It's a precursor to The Otherworld. It's a warning sign.

I think I would distinguish the game from the movie on this point, in that the movie makes it clear (through the use of Sean Bean -- no spoiler!) what is this realm and what is the other.

In the game, I would hazard that the darkness is a shift in the town of Silent Hill that remains in the world we all know. The Otherside/rust shift is a complete pull into the nightmare realm that exists as an extension of Alessa's mind.

Were the movie canon, this clearly wouldn't be true, and I'm having a bit of trouble reconciling the (very) different movie with my own incomplete understanding of the game, but here I think they diverge.

One of my theories is that Alessa's power isn't quite as strong yet which makes decent in to ASH slower. Probablynot true but It is resonable.

Okay, I know the sirens trigger the nightmarish world, so can someone explain to me why when you first meet Lisa in this nightmarish world, Harry's head starts to hurt and the sirens play and then you're warped into the foggy silent hill to go to the alter, and then Harry's warped back into the hellish world but in the hellish alter, rather then foggy? Say what?

Maybe the pitch black, foggy, and blood-rust realms are different planes of existence in their own way, with each realm "transporting" people based on their past, their fears, and their sins.

If you're referring to the part where the streets are rusty grates, that would be Alternate Silent Hill. The only reason it's pitch black is that there are no walls to illuminate with your flashlight.

I know the sirens trigger the nightmarish world
Well, I won't try to explain the rest of it, but I'm fairly certain that the sirens warn of the transition, not bring it on. Kinda like an air raid siren.

it was just Harry moving from the real world to the demonic (i like to call it tanted) otherworld

Wow... I never paired the siren with that of a fire station siren, that really makes a lot of sense. That's got to be the most chilling explanation for the shift I've ever read.
