Best Plot Twist Ever? [Massive spoilers!]

Post by Anonymous »

I personally believe the twist of James
PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER_SHOW PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER:
actually ending up being his wife's killer
was one of if not the best twist in gaming history.. people rag on SH 2 for it's gameplay.. but in my opinion it has the deepest and most original story I've seen in years.. which separates it from most other titles.

Holy shit. MARK YOUR SPOILERS. Please be more careful and think before you post things like this! Not everyone has played the games and it would be horrible to have someone stumble upon your post, before the edit, and have the entire thing ruined for them by someone else's carelessness.

I suppose--it seems that way 'cause I'm [probably] the only one that's up this early. :P

Anyway, to participate in your topic: yes that twist was incredible. Surprise isn't even the word for it when I found out what happened, and even in following playthroughs it still gets to me everytime. I don't see what was wrong with its gameplay--all the SH games have shitty controls--and I don't see SH2 as anything short of brilliant.
I'm not dead yet, dammit.

It's good, but I do prefer the first and third's storyline. It's still a real good individual storyline, though.

Let's just say this. I was so amazed that I CRIED for Mary right there >_> I missed the rest of the cutscene.

I do agree that the first and third ones story were good, but I guess I like SH 2 because it's story and nuances to the characters to me is considered a work of a art.. and one thing that makes a work of art in my opinion is something that allows a person to get a different perspective on parts of life..

I don't consider the twist so important; I mean, when you enter that room, you have some clues about James being an

uxoricide
.
So it did not surprise me that much.

In my opinion it's above all
PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER_SHOW PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER:
the final letter
which gives SH2's narration the inch he needs to arise among the other good storyline videogames.

What the hell is a uxoricide? It sounds like a poison. Or an exercise routine.

Ah... I caught onto it, but it was still a nice twist.

IGN fucking spoiled me with no warning. I wasn't even reading about SH and they dropped it in my face for no reason.

SH 1 and SH 3 are nice and all, but I want more stories similar to SH 2. No God stuff. Just a town dissecting the psyches and histories of a few unlucky individuals.

I kinda like the whole thing how the religion is tied into the game. But Seeing a SH2 story...maybe somehow fused with a story about the religion..that would be great. Sounds kinda hard now that i think about it. Oh and the twist, yeah, probably the biggest yet.

Well, there are a lot of undertones of the religion in SH2 also.
It's just not really the focus.
(Wait, I've misinterpreted you, haven't I? Ah..)

I agree with you though. If they could balance that, it'd be interesting.

I gotta admit I was shocked. It was my first SH game and I was not thinking about it really, because I thought if he had killed his wife, it would be said from the beginning. Something like The Suffering.

What? You make it sound as if the Sunderlands had a kid. Besides, in TS there were TWO kids.

I was shocked very much by that the first time I played. I love it when stuff like that happens in stuff! :)
