sirens

Post by Nurse Babz »

In SH1 there were sirens that went off that symbolized the fire, i think. Why are there sirens in sh2? It goes off when PH is around, after you fight the underhangers, and at least one more time but I can't quite remember.

I checked the compilation of threads and I don't think there was anything on this, but if there is I'm sorry.

I think they symbolise shifts in James' reality... within his mind. I'm only saying this because I posted about these 'shifts' earlier today! :P
That is the only conclusion that makes sense to me... until a more interesting opinion is posted!

PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER_SHOW PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER:
Doesn't the siren go off after you 'defeat' pyramid head for the first time in the apartment building?
I think (if I'm remembering correctly), it seems to be what call him away, as he walks down the steps.

They're also heard in Brookhaven Hospital, during the transition to the [otherside].

Okay so bingo Siren=Otherside transisition has been discussed before i think alot... a whole lot but you could raise new questions like what the origin of the siren, b/c most believe it deals with Alessa and how she was burned, yet that holds no significance(sp?) in silent hill 2 unless Alessa's spirit remained in the town and that is what makes Silent Hill all spooky like.. iono discuss i'm too stupid

Nope. There is no transition to the [otherside] in Blue Creek Apartments. The sirens blare to summon the red pyramid thing.

i Wondered why the Siren in the Alterrnate hospital in SH1 made Harry get a headache, but james seems perfectly fine when they go off during his battle with Pyramid Head

well harry was seeing manifestations made from another being. What James sees is from himself. Maybe that has something to do with it but I know if I expand I'll end up contradicting myself. I just stopped playin a lil while ago; the siren goes off right after you jump down the last hole in the prison-the one where you have to combine the lighter wax and horseshoe...SOOO...we have inconsistency...it's not just for PH, it's not just for transitions... :?:

No, that's just a screeching noise, as part of the coal mine--it isn't the siren.

really? hm...they're equally as blaring to me. So, St. T, or anyone else, it only goes off twice? or am I forgetting an instance?

Ok, so if the siren goes off to call PH in the apartments, why after fighting the Underhangers (transition to otherside in Brookhaven) when PH doesn't show up after a bit of exploration?

Why is PH called away anyway? Is that answered somewhere else?

yeah they do...since we're on the subject of loud noises calling, what's that horn sounding when James is going down those stairs in the Historical Society?

Aww... It only sounds twice? That's kinnda depressing... I find it to be a very cool feature, I would like to hear it around more. It's hella creepy... Just a siren, so bitching... Cause sirens are like... warnings... Ahh-haah... X3 *Shot*

Well... After the siren rings in the Hospital, you DO run across the Pyramid Head not long later. You know, it probably takes a while for that guy to move around.

So, the sirens mean different things depending on the game?

I just got up to that bit actually, then jumped down a big hole, got stuck and switched off, haha. I thought the movie siren was far more impressive to tell the truth, but thats probably cos of the added volume.

I guess the sirens call PH away becuase he's trying to kill you and maybe its not time for him to be punished. The 2nd time, is just an obvious shift to the Otherside of the hospital. It just seemed creepier to me in SH1 each time there was a transition.
