SH3 How do I accurately block?

Post by Gwenfloor »

When I use the steel pipe/katana to block enemies' attacks, a lot of times they break the "shield" and damage me anyway. I have mostly been using the "bullet adjustment" at x9 so I will have enough ammo to gun down the Insane Cancers and Scrapers before they get close enough.
Can anybody give me a guide to becoming a master at blocking?

I forgot you could block in that game.
I'd recomend that you just not worry about it, it never proved useful.

I didn't even know you COULD block.

Strafe... that's my recommendation.

Use strafe, and aim, to circle your enemies. With things like Closers, they're too slow to hit you that way.

Dude... blocking and strafing just gets you killed, man... at least for me.... cause I have no coordination...

So what is the point of blocking if it never proves useful?

It's a function Team Silent supposed would be practical to implement, but failed to realize its ineffectiveness--kind of like the beef jerky. You can allegedly "block" in Silent Hill 2, as well, but I certainly never have.

Oh yeah, I completely forgot about the beef jerkey. I think I used that once to see what it was for, said "fuck this" and completely removed it from my memory.

I hear that Beef Jerky is surprisingly useful against Double Heads and Slurpers. Is this true?
I guess not by reading the last two posts.

Yeah, the slurpers and double heads will stop to eat it, giving you plenty of time to react as you see fit. I guess it could be useful if you get mobbed by them.

Apparently the Order Cultist that killed Harry did not have a full meal...

the proper way to do it is to block RIGHT when the enemy is about to strike.

if you stand there for too long in the block position, the enemy will break the "shield". you need to do it almost a split second before the attack hits. it's a nice feature once you get used to it.
no longer active. thanks for the memories.

Having just started SH3 on Hard mode (wtf she RUNS INTO WALLS?) I'm glad to hear about this feature. Thanks for explaining it in detail, crucifix :)! Normally I just.. stand up or back away while blasting away at an enemy. It never occurred to me to try and be smart about it.
I'm not dead yet, dammit.

Hehe, neither I did it.
I knew about it, but never used it!

It looks useless, but maybe it isn't...
