Knowing Konami, I wouldn’t be surprised if they got the names of the characters wrong.

This post is a joke, right? It's a gambling machine. Won't it basically just have Silent Hill images on it or some shit?

It would be awesome if a little Valtiel suddenly appears from a secret slot and takes all your coins/tokens...

If and when Konami finds a way to fit Silent Hill into their GAAS monetization/mobile strategy, I wouldn't count on seeing it for awhile.

I believe Book of Memories was a test for the sort of thing they hoped they could eventually monetize on mobile. It's more probable that they're looking for some way of taking the concept of Metal Gear Survive to Silent Hill.

Maybe a F2P title in the same vein as Grashopper's 'Let it Die.'

Our best hopes for a new proper SH title is if some other 3rd party developer pitches Konami something and pays for the license, and gives them a cut of the profits on top of allowing Konami their cut as the publisher.

That and Pyramid Head cameos in other titles like Bomberman.

It seems Pachinko is on the decline in Japan.

I’ve also heard Konami has taken losses in its precious Pachinko business. I hope Konami likes the taste of their own medicine.

What are they going to do if or when the mobile game bubble bursts?

Even with it on decline in Japan, a noted trend given that only the elderly play it and young people have next to no interest in pachislots or pachinko (hence why Konami is trying to utilize video game brands to attract them), Konami's business across the board is doing very well, in large part thanks to mobile.

It seems that Metal Gear Survive underperformed greatly, which is why Konami didn't note anything major about it other than its release in their financial briefing, which seems to suggest the game did well below expectations.

Well, I’ve heard Konami was taking losses on their Pachinko machines and were desperate to sell them to the US market, which is pointless considering Pachinko is not a thing outside Japan. Of course this is mostly rumors as far as I know. Still, Even in Japan, I don’t see younger people flocking to the machines either.

It is also a trend worldwide. Young people don't go to Casinos or to slot machines. It's usually elderly people.

If they're at a casino, it's usually with interest to stuff like Poker and other card games. Nothing you could stick a franchise on.

But gambling mechanics are making their way into games through loot box mechanics, so instead of gambling for money, you're gambling for that 1/100 anime/game character.

This is the mobile strategy that Konami and other Japanese devs, including Nintendo, are following.

Silent Hill as a franchise is not really conducive to this, not without majorly changing what it is and going off the name alone to turn it into a Gatcha battle game.

Our best bet of seeing something properly done with Silent Hill will likely be another movie, or Netflix TV series or anime. And maybe you'll get some small tie-in game for that on mobile.
