A good sneak peek at the upcoming soundtrack:

I'm loving Mary's vocals in the two last songs, btw.

I've wondered before what it would be like to go back and add Mary vocals to songs from SH2, especially Love Psalm, so that is last track is awesome.

I'm not getting Book of Memories, but I really REALLY can't wait to hear the whole version of Love Psalm. That is one of my favorite SH2 tracks (and one of my favorite SH tracks in general), and the fact that they took it and reworked it and added her vocals to it makes me very excited.

This sounds a hell of a lot better than the Downpour soundtrack. Still not great, but a lot better. I'm a bit worried about the idea of Love Psalm remade, not just the singing but just the whole thing. Love Psalm is such a good song I don't know if I could deal with a weird version of it, the preview for it sounds a bit pants too.

I love the fact that it sounds very inspired by Akira's work, as opposed to sounding like Downpour which sounded very generic and not very Silent Hill-ish (IMO).

I definitely like Now We're Free :) Of course, the title most likely states the obvious. Sounds awesome and like an arcade version of Akira Yamaoka's late Silent Hill works.

The preview was hit-and-miss for me. Some samples sounded great, while others were lackluster. I'm intrigued though.

Unless I'm mistaken, it looks like the Book of Memories soundtrack is missing from the iTunes Store. It was just there for preorder last night.

So the delay affects the soundtrack, too?

It would seem so, unfortunately. I was really looking forward to hearing Love Psalm :(

Now We're Free

It sounds like Love Psalm has the typical Akira Yamaoka guitar riff at about 2:27.

The soundtrack itself so far is all right. Very similar to SILENT HILL: DOWNPOUR's but with a lot more Parasite Eve-esque tunes to it. I'm only halfway through it, though.

In my opinion those two songs are terrible :(
Love Psalm is awkward to listen to and sounds really over-produced/processed and tame. They've also made Mary's voice sound rubbish in both, very distant and feels very empty, like she wasn't really into it.
The ahah-ahah-ahah one semitone difference melody bit in Now We're Free after the chorus is really annoying/cliche aswell :(

All in my opinion of course. The previews of the instrumental tracks still sound alright though, I didn't like the previews of the vocal tracks for this soundtrack, so I wasn't expecting to like them, no big loss really.

To each their own. I haven't listened to Now We're Free all the way through because it just doesn't capture my attention yet, but I really enjoy Love Psalm, although they messed with Mary Elizabeth McGlynn's voice a tad bit too much for my taste.

No, that's just how she sounds.

No it's not. She's really over processed and covered in way too much reverb in those songs. The older songs with Akira made her sound more direct, natural and 'powerful' in the production.
Also the harmonys in the new Love Psalm sound too prominent.

I've listened to the new songs. She still sounds like that.

>Ugh, that video again.<
It's not my fault she made all those awful noises near a microphone.

They don't really sound that terrible to me, but there's more to the songs than just that.

Her voice is naturally silky and rich. I don't see how you can honestly think she has a bad voice. Disliking it, on the other hand, I can understand.

That being said, they've autotuned her a lot in Love Psalm, which is what the "rubbish" comment was likely referring to.
