I actually have a great facination with valtiel but unfourtantly there's not alot of information about him or the other monster's.
I dunno maybe im not looking hard enough.
But if any of you have a more settled brain then mine then could you share some info.
I know that sounds sorta corny, but just askin.
Oh and i hope all of you do have a more settled brain then mine.
for someone who play the game very frequent, and couldnt memerize one game.

What i know about him: He turns valves, he dos'nt seem to be the everyday monster, I don't know if this is a spoiler but he has the seal of Metatron on both of his shoulders.
Almost anything deeper than that that i've heard i don't know if it's true.
Stuff i'm not sure about: He's the agent of god, and he can revive dead stuff.
THat's about all i rememmber on him thats not entirely theory.

Sad suffering. I knew him when, fair weather friend of mine. Try not to think, I merely blink. Hope to wish away the lies.... I....

Valtiel is kinda like the care taker of God. You can see him nurturing
the God at one point. To bring about the incarnation with
success. A turner of the valves between this world and the other.
(Also likes to occasionally drag Heather away after she is killed).

I believe he represents the splitting apart of Alessa and Cheryl, you can even see the two dangling legs in red dresses (you can even see a painting of God in a red dress at one point in the game).
I think he was confirmed to represent the changing from the normal Silent Hill to the messed up one by the games creator.
It's also theorized that he is Pyramid Head, or vice versa, but I can't remember much on this one.
edit: Nevermind the scan from that book explains it all. XP

Pyramid Head is an illusion.AZAMITH wrote:would valtiel be considerd PH's offspring? or the other way around?
But read that page they linked you to.
The executioner entity from the civil war era invoked the image of Valtiel, and James' mental projection of that same being naturally carries the same visual design.
Valtiel is the keeper and seer of God.
The image he has is simply how humanity would percieve it. I doubt that's truly the form of an angel.

About Valtiel turning that wheel thing, the Art Director, Masahiro Ito explains what that means:
"Water flows through pipes. Valves are used to allow or obstruct that flow. In Silent Hill 3 you go back & forth between the real world & a parallel world. Valves that the monster (Valtiel) opens & closes represent the passage between these two worlds"
This is explained in The Making Of Silent Hill 3
Also too on the page of Translated Memories that explains Pyramid Head, it says, Valtiel is the being that Pyramid Head is modeled after. His form is also seen differently depending on the person.

Piramid Head represents James frustration and anger. He has nothing to do with Heather.Valtiel only makes sure that the birth of God is a success.

Think of Italy — which reminds me of California in so many ways — and its chronic inability to form a government. That’s California, with even better food and no parliamentary system.
