Silent Hill 8 is coming to the PlayStation 3 and 360 in 2011, according to Konami. The eighth installment in the venerable horror franchise promises to stay "true to the franchise," and deliver a third person horror experience.

It was confirmed for 2011 back at E3. Regardless, as much as I dislike G4, if they get some gameplay footage first, I'll love them for a day.

I believe we can at least expect it during the first half of the year if everything goes smoothly.

Rats... I hate using the PS3 controller to "steer" stuff like flashlights and guns.

Technically, we still don't know if the flashlight or gun will be controlled manually (they probably will, but still...). We also don't know if there's any plans for compatibility with the Move or Kinect.

Can't wait for the gameplay vid. I don't know if I'd like controlling the flashlight with the controller, but the gun makes sense.

Well there's always PlayStation MOVE for flashlight controlling if they decide to support it... though really we don't know for sure how this game is gonna play, for all we know we could end up using the classic pocket flashlight... But anyway, count me excited!

I'm guessing the game will release in Q4 2011. Earlier would be awesome though, you won't find me complaining...

I don't mind a free roaming flashlight, but I really hope they don't use the move. I'm not into all this 'active gaming'. I can get involved in a storyline well enough, without needing to look a pratt.

I wouldn't care if it was compatible with Kinect or Move, so long as playing with a normal controller isn't awkward as a result.

Regardless, I'm really looking forward to the gameplay video.
