Does anyone else find the FMVs ugly? *spoilers*

You know, the ones that play in the beginning, when Alessa coverts the town, and the end? I thought these things looked hideous.

some things I noticed...
-travis's head doubles in size, and gets a huge chin.
-Alessa gets a fugly "parted down the middle" haircut. (Why not use the parted to the side look she has ingame?)
-Facial animations aren't realistic. (Travis smiling endgame disgusts me.)

Maybe I'm just being too hard on the game.... I just think the ones in Silent Hill 2 looked so much better. I thought that this being god knows how many years later, Climax would have been capable of doing this a little better. I think they would have been better off using the ingame engine to generate the cutscenes. (maybe they could have used the extra space on the disk to put back in the chunk of gaming they cut out after the hotel. >.>)

does anyone else agree?

He means the CG cutscenes, Krista.

Hmm...I never really thought they were ugly. I liked that whole scene with Alessa going berserk as well.

Are you talking about the PSP version, PS2 version, or both?

well, I suppose just the psp version. (I own the ps2 version, I just haven't played it yet.)
Maybe I'm just picky and prefer the ingame graphics engine. :?

Ohhh. Thanks Bishop Sasarai!

The CG stuff looked really weak. I'd say especially in this scene here; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PVhMuvBtzSw Travis looked great, but Alessa just looked weird at that part. I kind of liked how the ground started to just fall apart.
Yeah the cutscenes were pretty generic looking, but that was mostly the characters. They looked really round and bubbly, like there wasn't much design put into them. But I guess this is expected since the game was originally only created for PSP.

EDIT: Wow... I only bought origins brand new for like 29.99 I believe. :)

Well, there is always prostituting. ^_^
(I spent a total of 40 on origins I believe. Got ps2 version for 30 and psp version for 10 at the gamestop "game days" sale.)

We may think that Alessa looks abnormal, or ugly, because we are used to seeing her in SH1. And I must admit, the cutscenes looked better in SH1 in a way. Much smoother. The ones in Origins have a sort of roughness, and edge to them that I don't like.

I liked the cutscenes a lot more than the engine graphics. They're weak cutscenes, but that only goes to show just how terrible the graphics for this game struck me.

I didn't like there were just few of them thru the game.

I'd also like Lisa and Dahlia to appear in the FMVs, they didn't.

I'm pretty sure Dahlia appeared in one near the end.

She was. You can just barely see her before the Flauros boss and then a bit in the scene after.

Completely agree. Compared to the cutscenes in 4, hell, even the ones in 2... these cinematics are just gross looking. It's the kind of thing that gets made in 3D Studio Max.

I thought the demon thing at the end looked especially terrible in the cutscenes.
