Another Mary theory. [unmarked spoilers]

Post by Conjurer »

This theory is somewhat similar to O-WEST's theory of Silent Hill 2 being Mary's dream but I actually am more or less trying to combine Silent Hill 1 w/ Silent Hill 2.

MANIFESTATIONS OF DELUSIONS

CHAPTER 3
MANIFESTATIONS OF DELUSIONS
...Poltergeists are among these. Negative emotions, like fear, worry, or stress manifest into external energy with physical effects. Nightmares have, in some cases, been shown to trigger them. However one such phenomena doesn't appear to happen to just anyone. Although it's not clear why, adolescents, especially girls, are prone to such occurrences.
Mary could very well be a Poltergeist. Silent Hill itself is the one involved beckoning James to Silent Hill but I think Mary is the catalyst for pulling James into Unreality.

I think it is Mary's corpse whom drags James into the other world because the conscience physically exists their. For example, the 67 who died of illness & now rest at the bottom of Toluca Lake most likely pulled the Little Baroness into the other world.

Like Alessa & Walter, Mary can manifest part of her sub/conscious mind, like emotions, personalities, etc. For example, Walter Sullivan manifests his boyhood desire to live w/ his mom & his obsession w/ finishing the 21 Sacraments while his spirit is trying to possess Eileen, Heather subconsciously manifests her obsession of suicide. The same thing can apply to Mary; she manifests her feelings of unsatisfactory to James as Maria. In the case of the Maria ending, Mary manifests yet another kind of sub/conscious element, in my eyes: the desperate feeling of trying to wake up James. I think the real Mary is what you see in about half of the endings, in the bedroom, laying on the bed.

It is also apparent that James seems to be able to sub/consciously influence the other world. Much like Heather after regaining memories also gains more influence over Claudia's other world. Much like Laura tells James she was friends w/ Mary a year ago, James memory begins to change, therefore, he gains some influence the other world. I think the same thing can apply to the Mary/ia battle, James ultimately realizes the truth & his main goal, influencing Mary/ia's image.

In addition, I think it's plausible that perhaps Thomas Orosco [possibly her brother too] is responsible for dragging Angela into Unreality.

Laura is dragged in by Mary for some purpose [overwhelming possibilities]. Eddie is somewhat of a difficult case to dictate. It's possible either he was accidently/ purposly dragged in by Laura/Mary or doesn't enter Unreality until he begins his murder spree in Silent Hill.

To summarize: Mary is a parable to Alessa & Walter, for James at least.

Why do people insist on theorizing on something that isn't meant to be defined?

actually that's a really smart theory,I agree with it but then again mary never died in silent hill and would therefore have no ability to drag someone in but that was some pretty quick thinking

Prone, meaning: most likely to accure to adolescents.

And not nearly as likely to occur in people who are considerably post-adolescent.

Well, apparently it happened to the 67 dead people buried in Toluca Lake.

According to your theory. That's it. A theory without evidence, only supposition. There's nothing to even suggest that they "summoned" the Little Baroness. That's risible, really.

Then what do you suppose happened to the Little Baroness? Did it just...float away?

Your not understanding the power of the human mind. Suffering is a main factor of the other world. These people suffered an agonzing death from an illness. Not to mention, SH:C elaborates that the thoughts of the prisoners & people suffering from disease played an important role on the other world.

I am. You're not understanding that I'm going by what's in the game, and not extremely vague information found in the Silent Hill Cliff's Notes, neither of which at all suggests that the plague victims had anything to do with the disappearance of the Little Baroness.

Well, while we're making logical fallacies, there's nothing in there that explicitly denies any of the following:

* Jaws ate them.
* They grew wings and flew away.
* They turned into fish.
* They all swam to shore and took off for Canada.

Go ahead, now you try.

Maria isn't some split manifestation of Mary for one reason: No one else can see her but James. When Walter and Alessa both split, their halves were for intents and purposes fully functional individuals in the real world, like Cheryl, for example.
