Happy 9th birthday, Silent Hill 2!

Post by Mr. Domino »

9 years is a rather long time for there to still be so many people learning new things about a single video game. I didn't play it when it first came out, but I remember the shockwaves that it sent through the industry, and I certainly understood them after I experienced the game.

So here's to 9 great years, and maybe in 9 more we'll finally have plumbed all the hidden depths and have a true understanding of Horror Gaming's ultimate masterpiece. Happy birthday, Silent Hill 2.

Happy 9th, SH2!
It's been a short three years I've known you, but a good three years!

I hope that really sounds as lame to everyone as it does to me.

Best excuse to use that nine-square save point. That makes the ninth year more significant than the tenth. :)

Happy Anniversary, SH2.

Hurray happy birthday SH2. Hard to believe it's been 9 years.

Feels like yesterday I read the review in EGM which straight up stated, 'this game WILL scare you'.

That was the catalyst for my obsession with this series. So nostalgic! I just beat it a few days ago again with my friend too (his first time seeing it).

Love that use of the DuoPH save point.

So the game came out Sep. 25 huh. Cool now I know. Next time that date comes around I'll play the game while drunk.

Awesome! I just bought a second copy (I only had the director's cut before) yesterday to give to my brother as I want him to experience the game.. Wasn't aware of the occasion though!

I didn't even get into survival horror until last year, and if my friend didn't give me silent hill 2, I don't know what i would have played all summer. HAPPY NINTH!
Not very pretty, is it.

Wow, nine years! Most games that old feel old, but not SH2. This game is timeless.

I may be a bit late, but: Happy birthday best-horror-game-ever-made!
