Ok I haven't been able to play SH 3 & 4 as much as I have 2, but does 3 or 4 make any mention of James? And on that note has any one heard or have any theories on what happened to him after his epic quest through Silent Hill?

Not in three and not really in 4. Henry (your local punching bag) comments that Frank's (superintendent) son and daughter-in-law went missing in Silent Hill and I think that's pretty much it.
I think this has already been discussed too.

SH3 doesn't mention him, except in the case that Douglas refers to HIS case when talking in the car. As far as I know, in SH4 is said that

James never came back from Silent Hill.

There are a couple of SH2 references in SH3, but none refering specifically to James.
In SH4, Frank Sunderland (James's father), comments on how he hasn't seen James or his wife since they last went to Silent Hill.
Other than that, I can't really think of any references to James specifically. No one knows what really happened to him for certain, but there is plenty of speculation, which you can probably find on these boards.
PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER_SHOW PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER:
Heather says something about "receiving a letter from a dead wife" when she checks the mail boxes at the Daisy Villa Apartments (only if you have a SH2 file saved on your memory card). When Heather is in the "dark" mall, there's a scene that refers to James finding the wallet in a toliet and says something pretty funny when you investigate the toliet in the bathroom there. Also, on the roof top in Brookhaven, she comments on how sturdy the fence is where PH knocked James off from in the second game.

Exactly, so it COULD be James'.St. Thomas wrote:>except in the case that Douglas refers to HIS case when talking in the car.
No he doesn't. He doesn't specify what case he's talking about.

So if Frank Sunderland says that his son and daughter-in-law never came back from Silent Hill, that would mean the Water ending would probably be the most likely one? Or maybe the one where James goes off to revive Mary, and something bad probably happened.
I wouldn't see why James wouldn't make contact with his father nearly a decade after he visited Silent Hill (according to St. Thomas' timeline).

there are things known and unknown, in between is silent hill
It's possible that he's trapped in the foggy world, isn't it?swedish wrote:So if Frank Sunderland says that his son and daughter-in-law never came back from Silent Hill, that would mean the Water ending would probably be the most likely one? You really think James would come home with an eight-year-old girl?, Mary's doppelganger, Maria?, or the resurrected corpse of your late wife? Somehow I doubt it.
No. It doesn't make In Water the more believable ending--because the In Water ending is already as unbelievable as it can be.
>Exactly, so it COULD be James'.
And B5160-R already responded suite. It could be just about anyone; you said, adamantly, that it is James. You are wrong. There's nothing to suggest that it's him except for wild assumption.

When? I said that "SH3 doesn't mention him, except in case that Douglas refers to HIS case when talking in the car"... meaning something like "In Silent Hill 3 James is never explicitly named, the only reference to him could be the case Douglas is referring to, IF he refers to James' case"... How could I say "Douglas talks about James"? Everybody can see that he doesn't do, since he only speaks about a generic case...St. Thomas wrote:

death
Or as abducted by aliens.
In Water has tons of other improbable and illogical things working against it, anyway.
And no, Angela's not a dude. Douglas does not specify the sex of whom he's speaking when he's talking in the car with Heather. The original script says "'em" or "them," which doesn't really give us any hints on their gender. Therefore, it could be anyone but it doesn't HAVE to be James.
I'm not dead yet, dammit.
