silent hill 2 ending glitch

For some reason my game skips at the end of the suicide ending during the reading of mary's long letter. Is this a common glitch or just my copy of the game?

I don't recall that happening to me, on the original PS2 version.

The disk itself might be damaged. PS2's use DVD-based technology, and scratches or dirt causes DVD's to skip.
