A feature length film using Silent Hill 2 on the PC. It will be presented in HD (720p), in the best possible quality I can manage from my computer. It was first presented back in February with some of the ending cutscenes with positive feedback, so I decided to start from the beginning at do it all the same, with some adjustments. I'm making this so you do not need knowledge of the game to understand the story (so your friends and/or family can see). I'm also including completely original music from the fan community to keep it fresh and new, with permission from Broken Notes.
I hope it you all like it as I am rather proud of it. Please spread the word on this movie so everyone can see it and just how I freshen up the 9 year old game into something brand new. With graphics that may even surprass current Silent Hill games. Please leave me feedback, as any kind of critism will help because I may start an edit of Silent Hill 3 into movie form.

You have no idea how much I wish this was made at some point before I played through the game a hundred times.
Still, I saw the first part and it was very well-done. I think it would be an excellent tool to introduce someone to the game (who did not wish to actually play). Loved the new music, for the most part.
The sole criticism I would offer is that, especially near the beginning when you show James making his way into town: if I were watching this with the impression that it was a movie, rather than a game, I would not expect to see James running so much. Being a game, I do expect this--watching him walk all the way to town would take forever and bore the hell out of you--but, since you removed most of this anyway, I would find it more natural that he only walks, unless something specifically makes him need to.

Really enjoyed it! Glad you were finally able to complete it. I had waited for so long that when the update about being the final update was posted I was overjoyed. And it was well worth the wait! Excellent work getting this assembled and giving it a new coat of paint.
The only thing I really wish this had was a little more of the atmosphere the game does so well, but I understand the need to get a lot of information down to the essentials. Although, I'm extremely appreciative that you only fought the non-boss enemies very, very rarely. Kept the pacing from being all over the place.
Really nice work coordinating all the musical reworkings, and you have far more patience than I.
I applaud your choice of ending. : )
I don't really have much in the way of criticisms, but I felt there were one or two places where I would have done things differently.
The only one that bothered me enough to mention is
I would eagerly look forward to a SH3 movie if you were so inclined to do so. Hopefully it would be able to take a little less time with what you learned doing this one, hahaha!
Thanks, Fungo!

I wasn't really feeling the music choice at the two rpt's killing maria. It just felt a little too "you should feel bad! bad stuff is happening!"

You've already got my feedback, Fungo. (In two different places) although at this point, it probably got lost in the shuffle.
ETA: I thought it was very wonderful that you included so many fan songs, and the walking instead of running everywhere were not only realistic--but essential.
SPOILER I also liked the fact that you used the unused voice file to "fill in" the death-of-Mary scene. Controversial, but I loved it, and you edited it well.
The subtitles for each part were also appropriate and to-the-point. I'm glad you're getting so much positive feedback about them, here and elsewhere.

^Why don't you post some feedback in here, instead of waisting a post on 2 sentences. We like depth and chattiness. For real, yo.
I saw the trailer when you posted it and I am so good you are getting more SH stuff up, fungo. I know you've been busy and experimenting w/ other stuff (like the Senor Fungo movie review, which I also like... a lot. I probably tripled your view on the Paranormal Activity review) but you do Silent Hill so well. This movie was all I had hoped for. I've said it a dozen times now, but if it was anyone other than you, I would be outraged. I hope this gets the attention it deserves. And working in the Broken Notes album was amazing. I love the album.
ETA: I wasn't talking solely to SilentWren, folks. One and 2 sentence posts are really irritating and make the bandwidth cry. Please add something worth while if you are going to post.

It was pretty cool. I'm not too crazy about some of the editing choices (namely the "flashbacks" and added stuff during scenes like "the reveal" and whatnot. I can see what you were going for with a lot of it, but I'm too set in my ways of the game itself, and felt like some of it killed the mood at times. Overall, good job editing though. Music was hit or miss with me as well. Good in some places, not in others. I wasn't really crazy about the gameplay portions. I'd much rather just play the game myself or watch the cutscenes, but I can see how this might be really helpful for someone who wouldn't.

I have watched your movie, and I really liked it, it really caught the sence of the game.
I have to agree with Typo on the choice of music when, but overall, i liked it, especially when James watches the tape.

FUCK YEAH! I can't wait! I think i'm gonna get wasted tomorrow and check it out.
I wish there was this for games like Shattered Memories that we PC gamers are deprived of.
Since this post lacks substance, Alone In The Town, could you point me to your novellization?
Also, where's the right thread to discuss weird noises you hear in the game?

Excellent. And right after my birthday too! Thanks a lot for putting this together, Fungo!
EDIT: Just had a chance to sit down and watch this - brilliant job. We miss out on a lot of the subtext and some of the motivations for the actions of James throughout the story, but none of the emotional content is lost, and some of it is actually heightened. I was closer to tears in the hotel room watching this than any time I played the game.

Thanks for making this, it's really well done.
By the way, I showed this to my mother since she enjoys psychological plots, as this game presents, and she enjoyed it as well.

Looking back, I have to agree that some music choices were awry, but still this is good.

Here's the link to the DVD torrent: http://www.silenthillmedia.net/sh2/movi ... VD.torrent
It just got put up yesterday, and Fungo's still in the process of uploading, so it'll be a few more days before its going at full speed, but its still awesome that its up. Also, the links to the SD and HD director's cut versions of the film:
SD: http://www.silenthillmedia.net/sh2/movi ... C-SDLQ.avi
HD: http://www.silenthillmedia.net/sh2/movi ... eDC-HD.avi
The Director's Cut changed a few things he was unsatisfied with in the first version, and is overall a bit better viewing experience. I'm still waiting to see whether the "Official" DVD image is better than the one I made a few days ago lol.

I really appreciate this Fungo. Damn impressive, blew me away.
I'd agree with Alone and that (if you plan to re-edit and re-release) James running near beginning ruined the cinematic mood, and you should have him walking normally instead.
Aside that, everything seems spotless!
