Monster stats.

Post by Magnus_the_red »

In this topic i'll be putting down the monsters of SH2's stats, like how many hits does it take to kill a Lying Figure with the handgun in hard mode, ect.
I hope the info I post here will be useful for those who have just started playing SH2.

I think that question was more one of how is it even possible, as you do not encounter any nurses or roaches after receiving the Great Knife.

I don't know why people make these lists which explain "How many times to hit a monster" or "The best weapon to use!"

:?

I find it just a waste of time, maybe a bit helpful for beginner's yes, but i think listing all that is going a bit too far.

You know when the monsters come at me, I'm more concern about staying alive and I don't have the time to count out how many shots it takes to kill them. I have the strategy guide that tell me how much ammo it takes to kill PH and I make sure I have more than enough ammo to kill him because you alway miss.

My problem is space and escape methods. I always count how many shots I fire 'cuz I have OCD, I count everything like shots and foosteps, ugh, so annoying but I can't help it.

When I first enter a room and hear monsters, I find them and the distance between us. If its just me and them, I'll bash 'em with a melee weapon. If theres 2 but enough space, I'll shoot one with the handgun and kick it and finish off the last with the plank or something. If I dont have time to think, I just whip out the shotgun and fire away.

I never met anyone who DOESN'T count how many times they hit a enemy in Resident Evil or Silent Hill, seriously, every person I know personally always does that. Be it paranoia about ammo consumption or how tough a creature is, whatever the case, they do it. I always knew how many shots it took to kill Grey Children in SH 1 for example, three handgun bullets, and then a stomp under the foot.
I did it so that I never used more bullets than I needed to.
You may say that nobody counts the amount of times they hit a monster when shooting at it, but most people do, don't make it some kind of sweeping generalization based on your experience of playing the game.
Although this stuff is easy enough to figure out yourself.

Yeah, I always start counting hits right away. It isn't that I'm worried about any given enemy, but usually their friends behind them get troublesome if you don't know how long it takes to finish one off.

Pretty good. That must have taken quite the trial and error time to come up with all that.

Good job compiling this list! I do have a question, though: is the number of hits calculated WITHOUT stomping on the enemy? Even on Hard Mode, I don't ever recall using more than ten handgun shots to down an enemy, but of course I usually stomped on them.

From my experience on Hard Mode you do have to stomp or they'll come back.

Well that's strange, in my experience i've never had to stomp on a downed monster, not even on hard mode.

Maybe I'm a better shot than you, Magnus_the_red.
Seriously, this is weird. I'm not sure about the patients and mannequins, but I can't recall EVER taking more than 10 shots to down a nurse, and almost always had to stomp on them or else they would get back up. I was DEFINITELY playing on Hard Mode.
What version of the game do you have? I doubt it matters at all, but maybe... Anyway, I have the PS2 Greatest Hits version.

I have the PAL PS2 Director's Cut version.
Hmmmm, interesting. Maybe the PAL version is harder then the U.S version. Or maybe DC version is harder then Greatest Hits version.

I have a Director's Cut version too only it's a PC version. This data is pretty accurate, at least when I play. Oh, and good work :D
