If your question is why the UFO ending was used as opposed to some other comical ending, then the answer has to do with how some people perceive god to be an extraterrestrial. Toyama's other game called Siren elaborates a little on this concept.

It's a joke, and the staff are furthering it by pretending it's canonical.

Forbidden Siren is the name of the game in Europe/Finland.

Oops...
I made a post and deleted it, because not only was it off topic, but it wasn't worth starting a 2nd page in this thread for. But since it caused bryan to post after himself, this is what I said before him-

For someone who didn't know that fact, macrodeath's incomplete sentence could've made it sound like Siren was forbidden in Finland. That's not so much a lack of reading comprehension as a failure of the writer to convey successfully the meaning with a complete sentence.

i beleive someone said theyare the true endings. someone who worked on the game. hes just joking though, or its bullshit and he never said it. anybody remember when jk rowling said dumbledore was a back-door-knock-in? same sort of thing. either a joke or bullshit.
they look like monsters to you?

Uh...no, Dumbledore actually WAS gay in the storyline. It explains a lot of things.

The UFO endings are clearly a parody, and while the developer really did say that, it was part of the pun.
