Of course it's possible! I got the Good+ ending the first time around, too, without help from any sources or previous saves on memory cards. I'm a real explorer when I play games, going everywhere bar where I know I have to go until it's my last option, so I stumbled upon Kauffman while doing that. And as for Cybil...
Since I picked up the red liquid (not even going to TRY to spell it) in the hospital I'd been using it on everything, because Harry saying he didn't know what it was for got my goat. XD And I didn't want to kill Cybil so I frantically tried using stuff out of my inventory and bang she was fixed.
So I guess all I can say in my case is that I was lucky.
I got the Good ending on my 1st playthrough. I did the whole Kauffman sidequest but couldn't find the red liquid. Now after being on this site, I've realized that I shouldn't have missed it -- it was too easy to get.
I got the worst ending... and I knew I had it because I did some research on SH long before I got the game, which wasn't too long ago. What made me mad was that my SH experience was ruined because I had researched the game too much, because I thought that I would never play it. When I was actually interested in the game, the 3rd game was out...
So I did some hunting and after all my hard work, I found it at a flea market in Virginia, and some sap was selling the game for $50.00. I wanted to play it sooooo much that I bought it, and after I played it, it was so much better than when I played the second game on XBOX. I still play it now, and I love the game. But it hurts when you know everything before you experience it first hand...
