SH1 writer?

I know this may sound stupid, but I'm a little confused as to who exactly wrote the story of SH1. This has been bugging me for ages. I'm pretty sure it was NOT Hiroyuki Owaku. The only place where he's listed as the Silent Hill's writer is a Spanish Wikipedia page on Team Silent which doesn't cite any sources. And yes, I've checked the game's credits - no "writer" listed :(

I'd be happy if someone shed light on this subject.

P.S. Sorry for my bad English.

Your english doesn't seem bad to me. What is your first language?

It was Hiroyuki Owaku, according to many websites and a Silent Hill Wikia.

I was under the impression that SH1 had multiple writers, but I can't recall where I read that.

Story writing has always been more of a collaborative effort among several developers. It is widely accepted that Keiichiro Toyama, the director, wrote the bulk of the story. However, Konami has since credited Owaku as assistant scenario writer after the release of Cage of Cradle.

This would, of course, explain why Siren feels like a reimagining of SH1 on the surface, what with the reuse of many common elements. I also have been wondering if Siren can be used to judge what Toyama may have intended with SH1.

Hmmmmm. Haven't played Siren yet. I almost bought it last summer, but opted for something else.

Play Siren. You HAVE to. Its the scariest game next to Silent Hill. If you don't want it, I could have your copy :P

I have Siren, but it's a frustrating game. I haven't "got it" yet I suppose.

I'd have to agree with you. I had it, but then sold it. It was too difficult for me, but I loved the story.

If I can find it, I'll try it out. But I'm the person who thought Simpsons Hit & Run was hard.
