well the way i figured it was that vatiel had some controll over the other world so i figured he would control some of the monsters so maybe i was mistaken with that but also ther are two pyramid heads that i know of.

Nope im afraid they are permanent. however later in the game there will be a way to subdue them and stop them temporarally. I personally liked the ghosts. They added a better suspens element knowing that there is an enime(sp) that you cant kill and you dont know whne it will apear to attak you.
