Silent Hill Heaven

I seem to remember my first playthrough being quite challenging. I'd forgotten about there even being breakable weapons in this game. Maybe I'm due a re-play of it, I do remember overall enjoying it, especially the atmosphere.

Being from the British Isles I've never experienced the game with the Grey Children in it, so I can't really say how different it is without them. I kinda figured it was going to be some sort of Pet Sematary or Monkey's Paw deal, which is the main reason I didn't like this ending. It just felt a bit cheesy to me, though I can't really say precisely why.

^Totally agreed. They couldn't even get Pyramid Head right! At least Homecoming came along to save the series. Now THAT'S what a Silent Hill game should be like, am I right?

It didn't seem to me that he had forgotten what had happened, I saw it more as him being forced to confront his past and come to terms with it.

No amnesia in Downpour, or in 0rigins either for that matter I don't think. I'd also say that other than both having a twist ending I don't think comparing Shattered Memories to 2 is entirely fair.
