Re: The Audio Commentary
Gotcha. While I disagree on the Splitting/Non-splitting, I understand where you're coming from on the ending. I liked the ending in the script better than the one that was put in the film, minus a couple of things. Again, I say Bassett had the right idea when he went about making SHR, everything was...

Re: The Audio Commentary
The splitting is up for interpretation, and since they didn't show it either way, I will stick with what happened at the end of the first film. I'm actually glad she didn't control him until the final scene. Up until she recombined with Dark Alessa, I don't think she understood how much control she ...

Re: The Audio Commentary
I don't understand why splitting Alessa again was a bad thing. If Rose was sending Sharon/Heather back to the real world, it would make perfect sense for Alessa to stay behind, since she never wanted to leave in the first place. Why would she go back to Chris with Sharon/Heather when she only wanted...

Re: New Posters
The Wheelchair and Mirror Posters are pretty cool. While the rest aren't mind-blowing, they are still better than any of the actual theatrical posters that were used.

Re: Re-write Revelation!
Don't base it on Silent Hill 3 and forget the first movie ever happened. They should have done an unconnected Game adaptation(Silent Hill 2 or The Room...Hell, even Homecoming) or it should have been an original story set in Silent Hill. Either way, Bassett did about as well as I expected, given tha...

Re: Screenplay
If Hadida really cared about the retcons, he would have shot every one of them down. But he didn't. He may not have written them, but he knew they were there.
Can't we all just agree that Hadida, Carmody and Bassett all fucked up? We can place blame equally and hope it doesn't happen again.

Re: Screenplay
I guarantee that if the first movie made 150 million dollars, that we wouldn't even be having this conversation. Hadida and Carmody would have kept their mouths shut and let Bassett do what he want to do(whether it would have been any better than what we got is debatable). But Silent Hill only made ...

Re: Screenplay
The only things that make sense for Hadida to be involved with are the 3D and the cheap scares. There was no monetary reason to retcon anything from the first film, no monetary excuse for the shitty dialogue, no monetary reason for the endless exposition. That was all Bassett, who damned near outri...

Re: Screenplay
Bassett is 100% accountable for all retcons that made into the film. He is also to blame for having the terrible Mall scene in both the screenplay and finished version of the film. Bassett is still to blame for weak dialogue and a weak shooting script. But, Hadida is to blame for forcing Bassett to ...

Re: Screenplay
Bassett was still trying to sell the film and if he knew what he had to do, he wouldn't come out at that point and say anything. I mean, we should have seen this coming since the almighty Carmody said the movie was going to be dumbed down and mainstreamed long before Bassett was attached. I would al...

He was passionate about the game lore, not the first movies lore so much. Two different things. And after reading this draft, its obvious he had a longer film in mind.

Re: Screenplay
Since I didn't like the changes made to the first movie(The town being abandoned, the cult, the way and reason Alessa was burnt and the fact that Gans made Alessa the almighty controller of all things Silent Hill),I didn't care about the retcons. And this was pretty good, although it needed some dia...

Re: The Audio Commentary
He was talking about a movie with a budget of 8-10 million dollars(that was the figure he used) so that it wouldn't be a huge financial risk, not a 20-25 million dollar "indie" movie.

Re: Deleted and extended scenes
The Rose scene was terrible. Jesus, Rhada sounded like she didn't give a crap about coming back, although Bassett didn't give her a lot to work with either. I liked the extended Harry scene and most of the Heather and Vincent stuff(Adelaide was pretty good and I liked her dialogue) and even though i...

Maybe he did some really extensive research before leaving Silent Hill....and I mean he was digging deep to find that little tidbit.....and Leonard and Vincent spent some man time learning about cars....They did have cars before they were trapped in Silent Hill....

Rewatched both films back-to-back last night. I still enjoy Revelation a lot--it has a lot of flaws to it, but I still think it's a blast. It's definitely a better "movie" whereas Silent Hill was a better "film", if you get my drift. I understand exactly what your saying and agr...
