The movie is terrible, but you don't need an idiot like Jim "I don't know how to use a mini-map" Sterling to tell you that.

My only issue is that in the actual Silent Hills teaser at the end the town looked too well-lit. Of course, we don't know the context of that scene so it's not much to get worked up over. As for the monster designs... let's not forget that Silent Hill 4 had literal ghost enemies that were extremely ...

Y'know, the mention of Suspiria brings up an important point. That is, why every horror movie is rated low. Like how every author must inevitably be measured against Shakespeare (thus, so much effort is made to discredit Shakespeare), every horror movie must compare to Dario Argento, because Argent...

Yes, the mother-child dynamic is arguably more prevalent in Hollywood movies. But since when is conforming to cliches a good thing? Plus, a protective father isn't exactly a tough sell.

It's not my problem if you turned your brain off expecting a Transformers movie. It would have been better if I had gone in expecting a Transformers movie, because that's about the quality of what we got. Instead I went in with the expectation that I would be watching something intelligent, respect...

Re: The future of Silent Hill films?
I liked the "open-world lite" vibe of Downpour. I didn't think I would, but I did. The side quests in that game were mostly excellent. The bigger, more open environments freed up the developers to put in cool scenarios that wouldn't gel with the main plot. And please, no Heavy Rain/Indigo ...

It's a lowest-common-denominator horror film. Nothing is flying over anybody's head, at least not on this forum. Why Distant J is resorting to insulting the intelligence of people who recognize the film is as deep as a puddle is anybody's guess.

DistantJ wins an AuraTwilight Award for Best Explanation of the Carousel Scene. Are there people that actually need an explanation? Anybody with a functioning frontal lobe should have been able to work out what was going on in that scene. Not to take away from the great job he did of summarizing th...

I like some of the ideas you guys are throwing out, but I think you're looking for a hidden meaning where there isn't any. I didn't have to look... It was clear to me as soon as I watched the film, I found it pretty obvious, along with some other stuff people on here don't seem to get... I mean Suk...

I like some of the ideas you guys are throwing out, but I think you're looking for a hidden meaning where there isn't any. With how sloppy and rushed the movie ended up, do you really believe Bassett or anyone else sat around developing meaning or a backstory for such an incidental character? I can ...

Add in money to be made in the coming weeks + DVD sales and they've made profit.
Um, it's at $11.6 million counting Friday. It'll be lucky to reach $13 million by the end of the weekend.

Everyone seems to single out the nurses scene as one they like. There’s a lot of symbolism and representation there. I couldn't agree more. The part where the nurses were tasered in the tetas represents Sharons suppressed homoerotic yearnings. Apparently, she's into BDSM, too, since Vince was str...

Re: Box Office Predictions ?
It's hard to say at this point. Clearly, it bombed in the US. It only got to 10 million on Friday, and horror movies are incredibly front-loaded so it'll drop pretty fast. Especially when you consider that Halloween is over. BUT, there are still DVD/Blu Ray sales and foreign box office to consider. ...
