Re: Silent Hills possibly UN-cancelled.....???

Shit... Sorry, guys. I wanted it to be true. Part of me knew it was probably a load of crap.

Re: How did YOU solve the final loop? *Spoilers. Obviously*

Took me and my friends quite awhile to finally trigger the phone ringing. Here's what we did (I had the headset on the whole time): 1) Look at the clock and wait for the chimes 2) Walk to radio and wait to hear Lisa making creepy sounds 3) Creepy baby laugh #1 should trigger 4) Follow source of soun...

Re: Downpour Cons ლ(ಠ益ಠლ)

I agree with pretty much everything already stated. Although I did enjoy the game, flaws like really lackluster monster design that is not up to snuff with the rest of the series, over-the-top action moments like the clock tower otherworld and dodging timed blades (Tomb Raider, anyone?), annoying as...

Re: Scariest Moment of the Game

- There's a part in the Devil's pit when you do the water channeling puzzle, where you can slip through a crack to a room full of water. If you drain the water before you power up the elevator, you can backtrack there and grab some goodies. I was not expecting a Screamer to leap up out of the water...

Re: References to locations from older games

I was just never sure where Ashfield was in relation to SH, thought they could be bordering each other or something. The whole hospital flip-flopping thing is pretty hard to swallow... I would have kind of preferred it if they would of just retconned SH:H, written it off as Alex's delusion or someth...

Re: References to locations from older games

We haven't been to Paleville yet in a SH game, have we? Also, does Henry's apartment mean that we ventured into a section of Ashfield in SH:Downpour, or (more likely) can we write that off as fan service? I didn't really pay attention, but the view from out the window didn't seem to look the same at...

Re: How old were you when you played the first silent hill?

I played the first SH back in 1999, a couple days after it was released, when i was 8 or 9 and completely hooked on Resident Evil. Scared the holy hell out of me. Since then, I've been vigilant enough to play each main entry of the series on it's release day. I remember I had an X-BOX and I had to s...

Re: Screamers theory [unmarked Past Life spoilers]

I still really like this theory. I prefer to look at it as dual symbolism; Screamers represent the spirit of the land, and they also could be looked at as representing his personal issues. (Murphy's wife, maybe? With the screaming and how it disables him, that's what i thought., especially in light ...

Re: Graphically speaking.

Environmentally the game looks great to me, and most of the characters look fine. The creatures, on the other hand, are not only uninteresting conceptually, but not very impressive graphically. Mostly, I'm thinking about the Screamers... There's some concept art of them floating around, hold on I'll...

Re: Anyone ok with Vatra doing another Silent Hill?

There was one void chase sequence I fucking hated my first time through, I kept getting lost and dying. It was the first one where they send an inmate or two to come running at you, and there's wall bleeders and slamming doors. I don't know how the hell you're supposed to dodge that inmate, btw... I...

Re: Silent hill Downpour need help

You've probably figured it out by now, but to advance with the story, check the backyard of one of the houses to see a ladder that's just out of reach (I think it's the one on the corner of Lanadale Ave. and Brite street, not 100%). There should be a ladder tool on the bench behind you, use that to ...

Re: One Week to Launch - Your feelings?

Downpour for PS3 is literally sitting in my Amazon shopping cart, and I'm on the checkout page, having an internal struggle. With same day shipping, $65 bucks is a hefty chunk of change compared to what I usually pay for games (I almost always buy used).I have Gamefly, I could just rent it and keep ...

Wow, that's actually pretty cool. I was not aware of most of these. How did you manage to figure all of that out? It's crazy how some of these signs and logos are almost exact replicas of ones in real life, I figured most of the stores in the game were just generic names they made up.

I agree with Ryan, they look completely different. The Glutton blocks off an entire section of the floor with it's size, whereas the Missionary boss is fairly humanoid and not much larger than an average human. This.

I'd rather wait for an in-depth analysis than get half-baked fodder like this. Hopefully we'll get some more reviews soon for comparison.

Also: Haven't played Nier, I'll have to check that out. I'm looking for games to tide me over.

Re: first Downpour review just in! and the verdict is....

I'm waiting for a more carefully handled review to come out. I agree that many mainstream reviewers simply have a hard time adjusting to a SH game and giving it a fair shot. I mean come on, there's really no mention anywhere of artistic direction or descriptions of the enemies, and I'm pretty sure t...

first Downpour review just in! and the verdict is....

.... kinda meh. Found this on Hell Descent forums: http://www.helldescent.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=863 Australian Playstation magazine has given it a 7 out of ten. A lot of the review seems to be nitpicking clipping and bugs, and the reviewer's opinion is that it doesn't do much to break ...
