Re: Got Downpour? Want to share impressions? Post them here!
Holy crap is the combat abysmal, I mean absolute ass. I had barely had any problems with 4's, or Homecoming's, or Origins' (Heck, I even kinda liked it.) but this is downright pitiful. The motel and mines were great areas but now that I'm in Silent Hill the game has just taken a complete nosedive. H...

After all the influx of new info and opinions I'm definitely really looking forward to this game now. Going to get it on Tuesday for sure.

IGN gave it a 4.5, but who takes them seriously anymore?

Re: One Week to Launch - Your feelings?
I'm actually kind of ambivalent, the series as a whole has been in a downward spiral for years. I haven't played a SH I didn't like to some degree, but the series is just squandering its own potential and Konami is just leaving it to flounder. I do hope Downpour is closer to the quality of the origi...

Re: first Downpour review just in! and the verdict is....
I'm waiting for better reviews too, not to mention that official reviews aren't always a good indication of a quality game. Best example that comes to mind is Nier, which mostly got subpar reviews, despite the fact that the game has a great story, excellent characters, an amazing soundtrack, and the...

A game that's level design lacks branching paths and exploration, usually railroading the player through areas. The worst kind of linear is usually just straight corridors. The SH Champion wrote:what does everyone mean by linear?

Re: Do you think Silent Hill Origins was worth playing?
Overall, yeah it is. Crappy plot and lazy enemy designs aside the game does have a real nice atmosphere; i.e. the game's soundtrack has some of the best ambient tracks in the series in my opinion. Now if I bought it full price I'd be rather annoyed considering how it only took me like 4 hours to bea...

Re: Rated 15 by the BBFC
Still great that it's rated 15, so the game can be available to a larger audience. I'm just hoping this doesn't reflect the same problem Hollywood movies have when they tone things back for a broader audience. I'm looking at you Die Hard 4 and lackluster horror films. The original Fatal Frame was r...

Re: [Seriously] I think I know the final twist
Hey now, the original is a good game, it may be a bit more in your face and gorny but it does have it subtleties, and it has some nice atmosphere, the asylum level for instance. Sequel is total garbage though.

I really hope Howard isn't some sort of guardian angel type benevolent entity that's helping Murphy, that wouldn't fit the series style at all.

Re: "New" horrible trailer, with ridicolous boss
that seems so fucking lame imo. i don't see how "oh, i'm actually gay but forgot that i was gay and got booted from the military" is a better twist than what we were given in Homecoming. Also, i still view the pact, and the sacrifices as the main twist in Homecoming. . When did I ever say...

Re: Downpour Delayed Until March 2012?
There's nothing more than I hate than a potentially great game getting rushed out the gate and made inferior because of it. Delays such as this are usually always a good thing.

Re: "New" horrible trailer, with ridicolous boss
One theory that would have made sense is that Alex is a closeted homosexual. Honestly the game would have made much more sense if Alex was gay and got kicked out of the military due to don't ask don't tell. Would have been a lot better twist that "OH NOES I KILLED MAH BROTHER AND I'VE BEEN CRAZ...

Re: Silent Hill Experienced Interview with Devin and Tomm
I have a confession to make. When Mary reads her letter, at the end of the game? Yeah, that always made me cringe with embarrassment. Especially when she chokes up ("did to you, did to us" and "you made me... happy"). Really, I thought that it felt more real, it was like she was...

Re: "New" horrible trailer, with ridicolous boss
You're all wrong. The stupidest enemy in all of Silent Hill is the Smog, AKA "We're way too fucking uncreative to not rip the shit off of SH2." Not the pipe-wielding cultists? At least the Smogs didn't completely break the atmosphere. The Cultist enemies are probably the lowest point in t...

The Rawshocks do kill you, they smother you to death. SM is just the type of game where there's no game over screen and you're just placed back at the nearest checkpoint.

Re: MC Hammer is not the new Pyramid Head
Looks a lot cooler and original than Hammer-Hammer-Hammerman. Maybe its more of the main personification of Murphy's guilt that always following him around. Perhaps he seriously injured someone leaving them in a vegetative state, it gives off that vibe, what with being in a wheelchair and having a s...

Re: Silent Hill Experienced Interview with Devin and Tomm
Yeah really the only part of the voice-acting that was quite good was the Leave ending. Otherwise, yeah it was pretty subpar, though it did have its cheesy charm. Overall though its not some momentous loss as previously said, just making a big deal out of something rather insignificant.

Re: IGN - "Silent Hill: Downpour Needs More Work"
I hope this ain't true, because on one hand if it ends up being a twist its ripping off 2 and Homecoming, if its not a twist and its established early on then its pretty much the basic plot of The Suffering.
